Trying to get a domain on Web 2.0 is something I tried doing some times in 2021 when I was trying to create a website for my e-commerce hustle. Thanks to that experience I was able to gain some knowledge on website creation and getting domain names. While trying to buy a domain name I realized that you have to pay a yearly renewal fee for your domain if you want to avoid your website from being inactive.
Wow!!! Lots of restrictions on using the web 2.0 internet. Besides, while using a Web 2.0 transparency and having total control is not an option.
Now let me focus on talking about NFT domains. You know how NFTs are Non-Fungible Tokens that gives you proof of ownership, authenticity and built on a blockchain. Now imagine a domain built on a blockchain, that serves as both website and a wallet address. This means that if I buy a readthisplease.hive NFT domain name, you can send crypto assets to readthisplease.hive and you can go to readthisplease.hive as a website.
But assets you can send to this NFT domain have to be completely compatible to this NFT domain. For instance I can’t send ETH to readthisplease.hive when it’s only compatible with Hive. Although on Hive we already have opportunities of using a readable name as wallet address instead of using the regular gibberish address with the combination of letters and numbers. But NFT domain names from other blockchains gives them the opportunity to create a readable name that can be used as a wallet address. For instance I can buy an NFT domain name of readthisplease.eth, this way you can send ETH to this address.
Being an NFT domain, it’s right you know that it’s built on a blockchain, this means that there is access to transparency. Having an NFT domain means that you have total control of your domain, unlike the regular Web 2.0 domain that is subjected to being censored or being banned. Once an NFT domain is purchased, it’s yours for life, you don’t have to pay the annual renewal fee. You can always sell your NFT domain or HODL it whichever one you prefer but just see it as a digital home address, that you have total control of, and can’t be uttered by any one but just you. This is because on the regular Web 2.0 domain, you pay annual renewal fees because you are renting the domain name. But you don’t do that on NFT domains.
Getting an NFT domain in my opinion is really worth it, besides there are not a lot of places you can get an NFT domain from at the moment.
Places you can get an NFT:
Unstoppable Domain
Ethereum Naming Service (ens)
These are currently the NFT domain platforms you can get an NFT domain.

That's a huge difference between web 2.0 domain and Nft domain.
Imagine still stuck to the web 2.0 world, no ownership or total freedom, even after paying.

Not lots of people know about this opportunity
No doubt about that.
It's sad when you think of how a lot of people are still in the dark.

I got my Unstoppable Domain NFT as a prize from a contest in Twitter last year. I still have $20 credit left to mint a new one.

That’s cool, ENS airdropped tokens to its users. For having an NFT domain
