Allow me to introduce myself first. I am Rodel E. Niog but you can call me Dhel. I am rendhel or mostly rendhel09 in any of my social media platform. I can say I am simple and naïve because I find simplicity beautiful and pleasing. And most of all, being simple is something that is low in maintenance or just goes with the flow of things. I am living with my mom who just stays in bed due to her sickness (Diabetes) together with my Sister and her only son.

While most of the companies I have applied before require college graduate or a degree holder, I am sometimes discouraged to apply because of my Educational attainment. The short-term course I attended was not finished and I only spent 2 Trimesters which are an equivalent of 8 months. I had to stop because I need to work right away to make ends meet. I think I was still 17 years old back then when I stopped in College. Since I can’t work yet because I was still considered a minor, I applied as a houseboy doing gardening, cleaning the house and even doing their laundry. When I turned 18, I applied as a factory worker and eventually became a Production Clerk because of my interpersonal skills, good command in English and writing skills. I am thankful and grateful to my trainer because I, myself didn’t see my potentials and my English communication skills may it be written or spoken are quite off. I must say that my confidence in speaking and writing in English is not well compared to others. I have a lot of grammar lapses and sometimes a stuttering problem. But my trainer has confidence in me that is why I prepared, I did my assignment on research and studied like there is no tomorrow. I must admit that my English is not perfect but I know I can make it. When the final interview came, I said to myself, “This is it. I have nothing to lose. I’ll give it a shot!” After the deliberation, guess what? I was the lucky applicant whom was chosen to be a part of the Production Staff. I am so proud of myself and the rest is history.
When the BPO Industry was booming here in the Philippines, I’m a bit hesitant to be part of the industry because this is some kind of a different level in my opinion. Again, I was encouraged to apply by a one of the Engineers who resigned from the company where I am working at and recently became a Supervisor in the BPO or Business Process Outsourcing setting. What I did was applied first in a local Call Center catering mostly Filipino customers but we are required to speak in English if customer requested. I stayed for about a year and from there, I developed my Customer Service skills and decided to move up a notch and I apply in the International setting. The only reason I did not apply immediately was because of my communication skills. When I was in the Manufacturing Industry, I am comfortable speaking to Japanese audience not because they are not good in English or can’t understand the language but I don’t have to be conscious with my grammar or what not. Eventually, I was convinced to apply yet again I did prepare a lot. I practiced talking to myself in front of the mirror, I read out loud English articles on newspaper, watch a lot of Oprah show on TV and again the rest is history.

Though my experiences were purely about Customer Service and Technical Support, Cryptocurrency is not new to me. When I’ve handled Financial Account such as HSBC and Synchrony Bank, most of my customers were always talking about Bitcoin and later Ethereum. I have heard about Bitcoin between 2009 to 2010 when it was still unpopular and a lot of people jumped to conclusion of it being scam or bogus. Well we can’t blame them if they didn’t believe the first time just like me. Years have passed then Ethereum came yet the acceptance of the majority still the same - - a too good to be true scheme.
Eventually, little by little though slowly, people are accepting the existence of Cryptocurrency. People are starting to trade, invest and develop yet again another cryptocurrencies popping out like mushrooms so many that I lost count already. Initially, I was so hype and excited about this Crypto thing and even invited and influenced one of my friends to join my journey. We had our fair share of ups and downs in trading, and we even participated on what we call HYIP or High Yield Investment Program as we knew it - - an investment scheme. They say you will not be a good trader or successful in the Crypto-world if you haven’t experienced being scammed. LOLS! I learned it the hard way and somehow it took a toll on me and forget about this trading thing and move on with my regular job. My trading participation is like a bad internet connection, on and off and intermittent in every aspect. So, I decided to forget about Crypto and move on working as an employee. Little did I know that my bestfriend continued and joined some blogging sites like Steemit, Hive, etc. and became successful to his chosen crafts while working. He never failed to encourage me to go back to the Crypto-world and relive the passion I long forgotten with this type of industry. Ironically, I am the one who introduced him to the Crypto scene yet I commend him for his consistencies, dedication, and progress while I was left in disbelief how successful he was now on his chosen field. I am so happy and proud of him and I am motivated to follow suit.
More than a month ago, I was discussing with my friend to be a part on where he is now and I think this may come into fruition. I also made a lot of research and observation about how does this industry works, the Blockchain Technology and other terminologies that can be overwhelming at most but can be learned in no time. I have also participated on making some write-ups on Reddit and joined some communities there and from time to time made some comments and replied to a comment as an engagement to the community. I am also active on Telegram and Discord observing and also tweets and retweets on Twitter and likes on Facebook for Telos Network.
I remember when I attended a webinar on “How to Become a Successful Blockchain Professional sponsored by Simplilearn with guest speaker Myrtle of Blocktides, one of the influencers of CoinMarketCap once said, “What I am looking for is integrity and value for work. Skills can be tapped and learned while working but honesty and integrity are the most significant of them all.
