I Got Called A Scammer!

in LeoFinance3 years ago

Introduction:

My main source of "social media" is the Hive Network and its Tribes such as LeoFinance/ProofofBrain and Splintertalk. The odd time I will frequent sites like Facebook to see what all the normies are up to and watch as they squabble over miniscule things such as not recieving a meaningless thumbs up on one of their facebook statuses. On this particular day I decided to give reddit a look and stumbled upon a cryptocurrency community. Great, I know of an awesome game on the Hive Network that has tons of awesome cryptocurrencies tied to it (Splinterlands). Then it hit me, this community would likely love to learn about the 170% APR the SPS token is currently getting and I should inform them of that. I would share the post I created on reddit here but it was quickly deleted. The post deletion doesn't upset me and neither does getting called a scammer. In fact the opposite is true. I had a great laugh at some of the comments I was getting on my now deleted Reddit post.

My Reddit Post:

My reddit post was a link to a post created on the LeoFinance frontend called, 170% APR: Where? When? How? (Sign Me Up). The linked topic is best viewed from the LeoFinance site If you prefer to visit the topic on Hive.Blog then clicking HERE will allow you to do just that.

Below Is My Favorite Responses I Got From A Redditor When Informing them about 170% APR.

So there you have it folks. Splinterlands is offering APR on their token known as SPS so high that its too good to be true. People dismiss the notion that getting 170% APR for simply staking SPS tokens is Legit. I can only image what type of response I would of got if I tried to inform the Reddit community two weeks earlier when APR was around 400%(?). I hope you enjoyed the above conversation as much as I did. I'd like to stay and chat longer but I got some SPS that I need to stake so I can earn that sweet APR returns.

What Is SPS Token?

The SPS token is a governance token for the Hive Blockchain game Splinterlands. It can be purchased on exchanges such as Hive-Engine. Soon(ish) SPS will be awarded in Splinterland tournaments and Ranked Play. One can also earn SPS tokens in the year long airdrop that is already underway. No worries as the airdrop is only on day 32/365 so there's still lots of time to join the action. Read more about the SPS airdrop HERE.

What Is Splinterlands

Splinterlands is a digital card game created by @aggroed and @yabapmatt. Game Play in which give prizes that have monetary value are being played daily by thousands of players. You can start playing or investing in Splinterlands today by clicking here.

I've come to realize that my favorite part of your posts is the Splinterlands market cap you include. Each one is higher than the last and reminds me that I need to run over to discord and check my account value :) Looks like we had another big jump in value in the last 24 hours.

The growth is insane.

One of these days I plan on doing a historical post that list the Splinterlands MarketCap at different points of its progression.

I love little strolls down memory lane like that. Makes me really appreciate where we are now and think about all the times I passed up on chances to go big in Splinterlands (and those I didn't pass up!).

!ENGAGE 25

Thank you for your engagement on this post, you have recieved ENGAGE tokens.

They're just mad they don't know how to get these gains.

Cheers to that...

Hey @l337m45732, here is a little bit of BEER from @rentmoney for you. Enjoy it!

Do you want to win SOME BEER together with your friends and draw the BEERKING.

The problem is nowadays subreddits are full of hate and venom. Some weeks ago I was asking for a certification in an "X" topic and the least harmful comments I got were people question me "why the hell I would want a certification" to "you are an idiot, because you want a certification on that, is too easy!!!!!". And that was a highly technical subreddit. I don't know if you posted it on a crypto sub, but all of them are full of idiots, in my not so humble opinion. Take a look on the Splinterlands subreddit, although there are people from hive and noise.cash, the dynamic is completely different and even scary to my taste. I still keep a presence in there, but with each day, I wonder if I'm better out of it at all.

The only time I go to Reddit is to advertise one of my Hive Blog posts. I read the odd Reddit post but for the most part I'm unfamiliar with Reddits audience.

I've been called a scammer on Reddit and I've been called naive by my friends. People just don't get it. The traditional finance system has taught people there's one way to do things and anything else is a scam. Sad that people who need this will keep missing out.

Also, I need to know a lot more about Proof of Brain. I think I got one when you liked a post of mine and now I am obsessed with figuring it out lol

I haven't been called naive but I do get some doubtful looks tossed my way. ProofofBrain is a tribe and a frontend to the hive blockchain. Posting from its frontend or using the proofofbrain tag on hive created content will allow you to earn POB plus regular hive rewards.

Honestly, I'd prefer people to be skeptical rather than jump in head first without any research. I think I've read that it often takes people 3 or 4 times to hear something before it sticks... so obviously this first time didn't go well, but if they hear about it and see it later... they'll start to think more seriously about it.

Or they won't and will lose out. Either way...

That's true, there's too many scams going on these days.

One can never be too careful where they put their hard earn currencies.

Nice post, I decided some time ago that I will not talk more about crypto to "normal people", most of them don't understand, and a lot of them just see the subject in a negative way, or greedy way. In my country there is a lot of scams, and people don't get off them, even when everything fails, and this kind of situations don't turn the scenary better, so, I will not talk more about this, I will just enjoy what I know and have...

That's a good strategy to take.

Ha! That guy doesn't even know!
The funny thing is it would only take minimal research to see that it indeed true.
Ah well, what can ya do???? :)

I bet he didn't even click the provided link. I wonder if he did a search afterwards and realized how wrong he was.

feels weird when we go offchain and get called out as a scammer. Reddit is a tough place. They don't deserve the gains, we do. Well grow the game organically I guess.

Thumbsup to that....

Post them the market cap picture and explain what the game is briefly. I feel like the more believers we get on board the higher splinterlands will be. The 170% apr has been dropping and will continue to drop but the sooner players get in the more they can earn. This is probably one of the best crypto projects to be vested in. !LUV and !PIZZA

@rentmoney, you've been given LUV from @mawit07.

Check the LUV in your H-E wallet. LUV changes soon. (7/10)

When I started staking, it's 371% APR. I read others said that few weeks earlier than my entry, it was around 800%. I am not sure if that is true. If sharing 170% APR is too good for them to be true, how much more the 371% and the 800%. Yes, as I observe most APR among tokens is less than 20% and that is why they consider such high APR as something suspicious.

Did you know you can now buy Rising Star packs with $PIZZA? (5/10)

I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.
