U= Up
D= Day
HPUD is a day in which those who are invested/interact on the Hive Network choose to power up HIVE Tokens to Hive Power. HPUD day is on the first of every month. Today being 10/01/2021 qualifies as a Hive Power Up Day (HPUD). This is done to show support to the network we all come to enjoy interacting on. Taking part in HPUD is up to each individual user of the HIVE Network. Of course any day is a good day to power some HIVE to HIVE Power and if you feel as if you want to power up on a day that isn't a HPUD day then go right ahead and do that. Along with HIVE PowerUps there is many different Tribe tokens in which one can PowerUp to show support to the HIVE Network.
Hive PowerUp
Today I powered 25 HIVE to Hive Power. Not a big powerup but every little counts. I hope to have much bigger powerups in the future but for the time being I'm trying to keep as much of my cryptocurrency assets liquid as possible. This is because the presale of Chaos Legion Boosters will start in the upcoming weeks and I want to make sure I have available funds to purchase my desired amount of boosters. Afterwards I hope to work on increasing my HIVE and Hive Power holdings.

The same thing happens to me, I would like to turn on HIVE today, also I need that I am short of resources but I have to save to buy the spell book. I hope that next month I can light a small amount.
What does powerup do? I have 100 Hive and I do not know how to use it to make more Hive.

let me tell you...what makes you strong in the whole hive-blockchain is you STAKED power...your HIVE POWER
this is HIVE tokens which are staked...lets say locked...
the more you stake (power up) ,the stronger you get cause you get a bigger piece from the whole pie
as rentmoney said more staked HIVE means bigger upvote rewards
so if you hold 50 hive power , your upvote lets say is 0.05 HIVE
if you hold 200 hive ,your upvote will be higher lets say 0.1 HIVE
and remember when you upvote-curate , 50% goes to the user you upvote and 50% goes straight to your wallet

Thanks friend, this helps clarify my confusion about powering up.
It increases the size of your upvote which in turn allows you to award more of the staked token to the content creators you upvote. The higher the value of your upvote the more potential curation rewards you can earn.

Ah I see, when you power up, the upvote rewards for upvoting increases and you get reward also for curating contents. I have also learned that you can delegate hive power so if someone uses that delegated hive power to upvote, you get rewards as well. I hope I got it right.
Some offer rewards for delegating your hive power to them and some don't. Make sure you double check before delegating.

what i'm truly jealous of is this 68000 SPT you powered up, just like that...
my SPT power is something more than 60.000 and this power up was a bit cruel!
well done though ....wish you even higher levels
60,000 is a decent amount to have staked. Keep stacking and get those juicy airdrop points for SPS :)
