Some of you might remember my SNES Series of posts where me and my partner in crime (Daughter) were playing through the more appealing games that can be found on the Mini SNES console. Today we decided to fire that bad boy back up and get back to finishing that journey. It didn't take long before we realized why we stopped our SNES Journey. The controllers weren't working correctly. The Player One controller was usable but every so often the B button would stick. It was very infrequently that the B button would stick and was almost a non-issue but still it was the cause of a handful of virtual deaths. The second players controller B button was unusable as it stuck in the pushed in position more often than not. So I decided to do some surgery on both controllers. My initial plan was to swap Button B with another. Upon opening I discovered the actual issue and realized how simplistic these controllers are . There is a rubber that lays over the top of the actual buttons and the portion of the rubber that the button B utilized had a crack in it. Luckily the rubber can simply be removed and rotated making the rubber section over each button interchangeable. So this is what I did which means the B button now works but the X button will now become the problematic button on each controller. This is a temperately fix until I order some new controllers. Sorry no pictures to share, at the time I had no intention of blogging about the fix. So there you have it; the fix took no more than five minutes to do. If you happen to run into the same issue all it takes is the removal of a handful of screws on the back of the controller. Everything else simply clicks in and out of place like a puzzle piece (yes its that easy).

Nice salvage. Now off to the internet to find a replacement. My repair strategy is that something has to be broken enough that I don't care if I destroy it BEFORE I attempt a repair 😊
That's a good strategy; one that I like to implement myself from time to time. I just finished testing the controllers while playing some Mario Kart and no button sticks so all might be good. Will still need to get a new set though. Cheers, !PIZZA, !LOLZ, !MEME
