Ok, I'm assuming each with this? Just insane. What's the usecase for this? The power density of racks is going off the rails, and I'm sure DC cooling is going to be a big focus for the next few years(they specifically mentioned the cooling tech in my tour of a local facility).

Sort:

These data backends 1U is a 1.6kW unit (max with redundant PSUs). Not very dense... for HPC. But dense enough.

Our compute racks are 100kW each. 48U Water cooled obviously.

Next year, there will be 200kW stuff available from vendors for the same 48U likely... so yea... nuts stuff

Just insane power draw…

Once they arrive I am going to try to take some pictures for sharing here, without too much hassle...

As this is going to be my record of power draw per rack, so, one will always want to exhibit the feat.

The current record for me is 51kW (measured). And with just 3 PDU's

What’s the cooling solutions used for 51k Watt? Gotta be liquid?

No. Still air cooled. But it does not have full PSU redundancy. No much space left in the rack. Aircooling can probably go up to 60kw max in a rack. After that is extremely hard, and even if you go with very wide racks, you may need extra rack exhaust pressure otherwise the back of the rack and PDUs can run into too hot problems.

Damn, didn’t know density that high was still air cooled, insane stuff. Thanks for sharing!

I can’t even imagine the cost of running redundant 50k WATT pdus. Out here thinking the 208V60A PDUs are pricey enough haha.
