I have never thought of the phrase, Health is wealth in the context of the title of this post. Not once, until I saw this thread by @jeffjagoe. Even though we all know that it is a healthy person who will be able to enjoy their wealth down the line, have we ever considered that there are a bunch of people out there who would love to be healthy but can't afford it?

Let's start with food
Do you really think we all do not know we need lots of proteins, vitamins, and mineral-containing diets to stay healthy and strong? Do you think we opt for sugar because we hate ourselves so much that we can't resist the lure of running a chill drink down our throats? Of course not.
If you look closely, the cost of a bottle of carbonated drink is less than a full balanced diet. It is easier to take out a few cents to buy a carbonated drink and a snack than to churn a few dollars for a well-cooked meal. When you have a lot of financial challenges staring you in the face, a drink and a snack will win over food. It doesn't matter how many times the media admonishes us or encourages us to eat well, we'd love to, but we can't because we can't afford it.
The economy is constantly decreasing our standard of living and the cost of living healthy is increasing in proportion. I am sure you are already thinking we should cut down on food, practice intermittent fasting, and whatnot, but why do we have to reduce our consumption to fit the narrative? Why can't we splurge on the foods we love so much and are healthy and then hit the gym later because we can afford it? Why is the system making sure the modest living we should enjoy has to be a struggle for the common man? Why does the system continue to put us down without taking pity on us? Why?
Since we are talking about hitting the gym, let's set that on course in a moment
Gym Membership
Can you afford it? Gone are the days when life was easy when you needed to take long walks during the evenings and take a quota of your daily exercise off nature. Currently, you can't afford to go bask in nature because you have bills to pay. Bills to pay mean extra hours at work to meet up with the demands of deadlines. Where are you going to find the time to fully immerse yourself in nature? No way. Unless your family comes from money, nature and you do not have anything in common. You can only imagine, aspire, you can't. Even if you try, overthinking won't allow you to live in the moment.
But you can hit the gym. But can you afford it? Can you afford extra money set aside for that subscription when you have student loans, family bills, childcare, and whatnot? Don't tell me you can go out in the early hours of the morning and run in your neighborhood. Would you die if you went to the gym and met other people, connected, stayed fit, and felt among? Why can't be one of those who can use a gym membership to close a few deals? Weren't you created to win and to win big?
If you can't stay fit, do you have medical insurance or can you afford healthcare?
Medical insurance & healthcare
Deep down you know that insurance is good, and healthcare is important, but can you afford it? Don't you often run to the nearest pharmacy to buy over-the-counter (OTC) tablets because you think by doing that you can prolong the effect of your illnesses? One day it will catch up with you and when it does, you will be pissed at the fact that a basic right is being denied because you can't pay for it. Does your country have better healthcare practices to help people like you?
I don't need you to answer me. I only need you to see that you deserve to have all the good things of life and if you can find ways to gather a few for yourself, go ahead and do it.

Without doubt, we know what's good for us. Who wouldn't love a three or six months sabbatical? How do you go there when the bills are pilling. A lot of 'why's' that you just forget about asking.
