Crypto Gaming In Africa: The Next Big Opportunity? (Part 2)

"Whereas most technologies tend to automate workers on the periphery doing menial tasks, blockchains automate away the center. Instead of putting the taxi driver out of a job, blockchain puts Uber out of a job and lets the taxi drivers work with the customer directly.” - Vitalik Buterin

Hello everyone, Yesterday my on my last blog, I explained how Crypto gaming is gaining attraction in africa and why it's presents a unique opportunity. However, something I failed to mentioned was the risks Crypto gaming entails. This risks cannot be ignored and must be addressed. At the same time, I know fully well that if these challenges are managed properly, the future holds and immersed potential waiting for Nigerians and the rest of Africa to profit from.

Some of the Risks Includes.... Regulatory Uncertainty.

Truth is Africa has one of the most confused government regulations in the world, today crypto is banned and tomorrow there are advertisements signaling Crypto existence in the country. Government are either cautious or reserved or confused on how to handle Crypto and digital assets.

Another includes,The Ponzi-like Model...

Many play to earn games rely on players buying tokens and also continuous player growth to sustain the value of the token. If a game crashes, most early players benefits while new gamers lose making the game feel like Ponzi scheme.

There is also the case of Hacking and vulnerability. take for instance the $600M ronin network hack makes it impossible for you feel safe investing in a crypto based game. Africans who struggle to make money would find it alot hurtful to find themselves in precarious situation whereby the struggle for capital is met by a cyberattack leaving them not just back to square one but in sad state.

Another risks involved is not knowing the right projects, with so many projects out there it is easy to fall into pump and dump schemes.

Conclusion...

Just like my friend asked me if I'd quit my job to fully focus on gaming, I believe the answer lies in not just the opportunity but the risks that comes with it. If players, developers, and regulators work together to educate users, secure projects, and create fair economic models, crypto gaming could revolutionize the African gaming industry.
