Maybe it is because #PeakD Chat and #Ecency Chat are still only in testing phase during these times, which prevents you and him from transitioning to Web3 chat. 🤔🤯 One heavily-used feature in communication apps that is lacking is the support for voice (and video) calls. 🤯🤓

It was more just dependable and easy usage. If web3 chats met all of our needs, then sure, we'd likely move over there. Telegram is a good app for communication like that too, as encrypted chats can be set up, and it also does support video calls, both of which I've used many times. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

I think that for communication using apps to be truly secure, encrypted chats should not be optional. 🤔

Encrypted (end-to-end) voice (and video) calls would indeed be cool. 😎

Yes, I agree, but how they work in Telegram is that they need to be set up manually, since they are device-to-device specific, so if someone changes a device, the encrypted chat would need to be set up again.

They are very cool, it's true. I dig 'em! 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

There is !INDEED that trade-off between security and convenience in apps. 🤯🤓

Encrypted voice/video calls in FOSS apps is already a thing, though it is yet to be seen on decentralized real-time communications apps. 🤯😅

Yeppers, indeedy, you're right about that! Some apps strike a nice balance, however.

Yes, that's true. Qortal and Bastyon do encrypted, decentralized chats quite well, however. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙

While it's good to have as few apps as possible that would fulfill most (if not all) of a person's needs, it's practically impossible to have a single app that would fulfill all needs. 🤔🧘‍♂️🤯🤓

Do you mean that both #Qortal and #Bastyon do encrypted, decentralized voice and video calls quite well? 🤔🤯😅

True, it's great when one app does many things well, but that is rarely the case. The UNIX/Linux philosophy is to have individual apps that do their respective jobs very well.

They both do decentralized, encrypted chats yes, but not video calls yet. 😁 🙏 💚 ✨ 🤙
