Hive is now short form friendly - INLEO for the win

in LeoFinance2 months ago (edited)

Since Leoshorts dropped I’ve been spending a lot of time on INLEO. I’ve mentioned before but at this point I see them as the most capable team at Hive, coming up to practical solutions for problems the chain has had for years.

They’ve helped create a comfortable way to engage in multiple new ways, short form text and short form video have both been a big challenge on a chain like ours where everything leans towards being a top level post and gets mixed in with blogs. Now we have threads and shorts and it makes Hive a more attractive platform for people who don’t have any intention on blogging.

I imagine a significant percentage of people who left over the years would have stayed if there was a way to engage without always blogging or reading blogs and now we have it. Unlike d.buzz, you can separate your blog and your short form without creating a separate account.

Shorts have officially dropped and it’s helping create a lot more activity on 3speak but now INLEO is working on a tiktok like interface to browse short videos which is going to skyrocket engagement. They’ve also created a serious gamification through leaderboards and are close to finishing a referral system which rewards users for onboarding new users in a big way.

Meanwhile the way people buying premium with HBD creates buy pressure for both Leo and Hive.

I hope they get back to working on the ad revenue system which creates income for old posts and encourages us to share posts with people off platform. I imagine they will once all the bugs are worked out and they complete what they are currently working on.

I won’t even mention leodex and decentralized finance because I’m far from an expert but there is always that if you are interested to.

I still love peakd and ecency, and still use them for checking comments and for wallet functions so I hope they keep building in their own direction, the more development on hive the better but things were starting to get stale and these new developments by INLEO are a breath of fresh air in the ecosystem.

Now when you post a short video through threads it doesn’t post as a blog post on your blog, it posts through a proxy account that sets you as the beneficiary for all rewards.

All we really need as an ecosystem is energized outreach from a front end with a great user interface. I expect good things to come!

As for earnings, I find myself earning an extra dollar or two a day through threads, and if I make it to an AMA on Twitter and I join the threadcast, I earn another $4-5, once or twice a week. Add to all that earning Leo on every post and the occasional Leo curated post and money I earn for staking and I think I’m clocking in an extra $100-300 a month using Leo. Of course I’ve built up a following over the years so it may not be the same for everyone but you definitely won’t earn less!

How to make a Leoshort:

Leaderboard:

The leaderboard still has a few bugs but the team is working hard to fix them. Comments and power ups still don’t count for your rank on the leaderboard and it seems to only update once or twice a day. These kinds of bugs are understandable though with all the new features going live at once. The pace of development is really exciting!

I will be active in the #leoshorts tag on threads and I encourage everyone else to be as well, that way we can really make it fun for new users to the platform by keeping the activity high there.

Tomorrow is my birthday. I hope to take it easy and either write some of the deep thoughts I have been meaning to write or potentially work on some music and meditate. Nothing too complicated. Nothing fancy. Just chilling out at home or in the park.

I’m sure I’ll be on threads a bit too.

I just tried it, realised you have to get premium to EDIT a tweet, and that it's basically an exact copy paste plagiarism of X and... meh. Just another example of a lack of innovation.

'I know, let's copy everything that already exists, but slap it on a blockchain'. Urgh.

I might dabble in it if I see any engagement at all. Mostly I'm seeing one reply here, one there.

Well, the tokenomics are pretty smart. Haven’t seen it anywhere, although to be honest I have no idea what’s going on in crypto.

I don’t really need innovation in social media right now. Hive was the innovation and it hasn’t caught on because only Splinterlands grew to a sustainable level on top of hive.

To me X where I get paid and there’s less drama is great. And a token that doesn’t bleed constantly and massively is good!

I had no idea X paid - I've probably used twitter a combined 17 minutes of my life, but intriguing. I think I'm too old and introverted to be any kind of public figure that earns a penny or two. A blog everybody ignores is about as far as I'm willing to go lol

What are the limitation of file size of a video.?... I tried once it get stuck in between.

I don’t know but that happened to me yesterday for an hour and after that it’s been fine

InLeo team is really doing a great job. I also increase my engagement with #threads.

Thou I've been inactive for the past few weeks due to personal reasons, there's a lot of updates since then!

It will make sense to be a part of this but what can those points be used for?
