I only use streaming platforms to reach more people and to make it easier to listen. I don’t really expect profit or a community there.

I can’t defend all their business practices but after doing the math, the amount they give artists isn’t completely unfair. Since people only spend $10 on music and listen to a lot of music, it’s not that unfair to give artists what they give. I don’t doubt they are scummy in other ways and have heard a bit about though I don’t remember
I think the real issue is the overall attention economy that focuses on quantity over quality , and the centralization of attention. I always thought I wanted my core 100 supporters but after 6 years I may have found 5 or 6 and none of them have any money lol. Meanwhile the standard of 100 core fans has become a standard of 1000 core fans.
Maybe I just suck 🤷♂️
But actually I don’t blame that on anything, if I play more shows and improve my skills at recording stuff I know more people will listen 😊
A single threespeak video could make more with the music you're so right about that man
spotify and youtube are still good for POTENTIAL reach but hive is not only where there is money but also potential friends and collaborators.
