I had 3 hours between my last two classes today, so I got completely lost in my creative pursuits, almost to the point where I was late for my last class.
I finally finished setting up most of my "music studio", which is basically the corner of my living room table. The room is packed to the brim with stuff because two people in a Tokyo apartment means you don't have room to own anything.
I've got my PC on the corner of the table, a mic between the TV and the table, a guitar in front of it, an amp and guitar pedals under the table, and an audio interface behind the table. It's an absurd setup but it's the best I can do, anything to stop putting off working on music.
After that I wrote a post for @tentententen, an account that belongs to B, but which I am managing. She is in the process of starting her company, making yarn hats, accessories and other art and products. She takes care of the products and the Japanese online shops, and I will take care of the planning, accounting, and overall concept. I want to help her intergrade her company into Hive as much as possible, and that will include many parts, but the first thing is to get her active on Hive again. She will post 4-6 times a month with her handmade hats and about her process, and occasionally life in Japan, and I will share posts about our larger plans and our progress, as well as Hive related initiatives.

After that I started playing electric guitar for the first time and tried to see how I could mess with my songs. I played with a "whammy wah" pedal which was a little tricky to navigate, but definitely interesting as it's like bending on the strings until they reach the next octave.
As I have been doing for the past few days, I played around for about 30 minutes until I found a sound I liked and I recorded it. The video of me didn't look good so I decided to make a music video short.
I spent the next 30 minutes editing it:
I was extremely happy with the result. The music is a new play on the song "The Tree" which I have yet to record, but has a live recording somewhere on the internet, a song I haven't played much these past few years but one I've always loved.
I found a new way to embellish the song on guitar that felt like it fit electric guitar perfectly. It sounded someone lost and lonely and almost panicking, looking for someone to save them. I remembered a video of an empty train I took and started playing with it, added the reverb and delay that are in the video app and mixed a tiny bit. And the result is here.
I am thinking about whether or not I want to add a voiceover from my short novel Confessions of the Damaged tomorrow or not.
I had my last class and then I saw a message from a friend I contacted last week. He is a professional editor and a poet, and exactly who I want to help me translate Confessions of the Damaged into Japanese. Part 1 was released in 2021, and part 2 and 3 in 2022 and 2023 respectively. I took a break from writing until I found the right person to help me translate, and recently I remembered that this friend had experience with this kind of work and he definitely understands the nuance of what I'm trying to express.
I am not sure I'll make a print version right away but I want to at least have the PDF version ready in Japanese before I start writing part 4. I hope to finish part 4 by the end of summer, but first I plan to get back to playing shows and finish a second EP, after releasing my first EP on Spotify, on Apple Music, or Youtube (search "Sun Shone Blue")
So I guess I'm back in full swing. Look, I even wrote this post here after all that! :-D
Looking forward to playing more electric guitar tomorrow!
And last but not least, B's old cat!

Cat pics always get upvotes XD
not necessarily from me but I definitely will in this case xD
Sounds like all sorts of cool stuff happening at once :D
lol I wasn’t even thinking about that! I was on PC and browsing through old photos and couldn’t find one that fit the tone so I just picked a cat
Cats always fit the tone XD I forgot to ask how the new studio was working out.
Best cramming of things into a small space ever. Means we hardly have room to eat but whatever!
Proof of functional tiny studio right here.
Guess you're eating on the couch or the bed or something or can you cram in on the other side of the table just? XD (I'm taking a best guess at the size of the table based on the sizes of the known components and it doesn't look very big).
Couch!?! What kind of mansion do you think we live in!? We eat on the other half of the table and put our drinks on the floor hahaha
LoL damn XD
If it's just 2 or so of you and no pets and neither of you are klutz like me then that works out, doing stuff like that here is practically begging for all sorts of trouble XD
