Good point.
I think there are endless examples, but the internet is the most recent.
I know that the inventors of the internet had no idea that one day we would make video calls, and stream movies with their technology.
In fact I remember AOL having the AOL Market where you could buy stuff using PayPal. Steve Case was criticized by people who said shopping was not what the Internet was made for, and additionally they said people would only shop in stores.
That didn't age well.
