Thank you for the nice summary of this situation. I am so glad I don't have to read any long boring articles to get the igh points.
All the value attributed to crypto is in the eye of the beholder.
The fact that anyone argues over whether this token should have any monetary value is ...interesting. Nice word instead of what I am really thinking LOL

Question: Can I store gETH in my Metamask wallet?

    Thanks. I always aim to sum things up as much as I can because people shouldn't be spending time reading filler text.

    Geth can be held in a metamask wallet. Just switch to Goreli network in the wallet. It should be added by default.
