hive exist as HivePower, a form of "Staked" Hive used to upvote comments and direct a portion of the daily reward pool. And there is Hive Backed Dollars or HBD, which represents one dollars worth of HIve regardless of Hives actual price. So if Hive is 20 cents or 1/5 of a dollar, then HBD is baked by 5 Hive. If Hive is selling dor a dollar, then each HBD is backed by one Hive.
