I think it is amazing in retrospect How huge stores Like Sears and MOntgomery Wards, which were all over the country for 50 years, Montgomery Wards is completely gone, Sears is shrinking and JC Penny is almost gone. These three huge retail powers looked invincible, but are becoming footnotes in the story of retail commerce. I also think of BlockBuster Video, which once was as common as cars, and was found in every city, hamlet and village across America. No one would have imagined the demise of such a huge business. But the consumer shifted away from picking up movies to having movies delivered and this huge entertainment giant disappearred semingly over night. Now there are teenagers and young adults who have never heard of these once giant retailers.
So I never think of companies as to big to fail, I just think of them as not failed yet. Change and adaption are hard. And the bigger the company, the harder it is to change.
Most just die.
As they said so famously in Game of Thrones... winter is coming, and many of the living will die.
