We are seeing a move to give people their sovereignty back.

I think it's worth pointing out that most of us have never had self sovereignty, and a lot of people find it scary, because it's just another term for personally responsible, which my experience has shown people don't want to be.

Whether that's an effect of being under control of a person of system since birth or if it's just human nature, I don't know, but seeing the keys for a hive account has been enough to turn off most people I try to bring in and if people can't handle the responsibility of keeping up with their own keys/passwords how can they handle wealth management?

I certainly agree. In fact, I think the "nanny state" is depending upon this.
