/🧵 - Conclave (2024) starts when the Pope dies and instantly throws us into the Vatican's hidden world of politics and old rules 🏛️, the story shows us how they mix old traditions with new age problems like blocking laser cameras and taking away phones to keep everything secret, Ralph Fiennes plays Cardinal Lawrence who leads the process while dealing with his own faith problems 🙏, the movie gives us amazing views inside the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel making you feel like you're sneaking around listening to secret talks between Cardinals, Edward Berger who made All Quiet on the Western Front puts together a story that keeps you wanting to know what happens next while showing the struggle between faith and power

/🧵 - The selection process brings Cardinals from everywhere creating different groups with their own ideas 🗳️, Cardinal Bellini wants progress while Cardinal Tedesco wants to stick to old ways, then there's Cardinal Tremblay playing both sides like a real politician and Cardinal Adeyemi who might become the first African pope 👀, things get crazy when Cardinal Benitez shows up saying the dead pope picked him in secret, every new thing they find out about what the last pope did changes how everyone acts and thinks, watching them try to figure out all these secrets while dealing with their own plans makes everything more interesting

/🧵 - The acting in this religious drama is amazing with Ralph Fiennes showing perfectly how someone can do their job while questioning everything they believe in 🎭, Stanley Tucci as Cardinal Bellini brings life to someone who doesn't want to be pope but thinks he has to be, John Lithgow makes you doubt which side Cardinal Tremblay is really on 🎬, Isabella Rossellini as Sister Agnes doesn't show up much but when she does she owns every scene especially when she makes all the Cardinals shut up during an argument

/🧵 - Watching all these church leaders try to stay proper and religious while playing politics is really something 🎪, every talk in this vatican story seems to have hidden meanings whether they're openly talking about church stuff or just chatting in hallways, all the actors had to act proper and political while still showing their religious side which couldn't have been easy 🎭, with so many characters each wanting different things it gets tricky to follow all their ideas at once since they're all trying to win

/🧵 - The ending of this vatican thriller really gets people talking when they reveal the winning Cardinal was born intersex 😮, this brings up big questions about change and tradition in the Catholic Church 🤔, the movie sets this up really well so it's not just for shock value but adds to what the whole story is about, it shows you can make serious grown up movies that make you think while still telling a good story, the beautiful camera work and mix of thriller with drama came together perfectly making this one of the best movies this year
