Right now, we have two kinds of AI language models: LLMs (big ones) and SLMs (small ones). LLMs need a strong internet connection and tons of power. SLMs, though, are designed to work directly on devices like smartphones, offline, faster, and with more privacy. Each has strengths: LLMs are thorough; SLMs are portable and personal. I think there's room for both.
