I would disagree. It means extra clicks to get to the info. It may not even be obvious that there is a link. Embedding previews would be ideal. You can still have discussions on here. I'd never link to Discord anyway.
It's a temporary measure until we figure out how to avoid the spamfest that some hive users like to do everywhere where they can drop links and disappear lol
We're cracking our head at this. Premium users can share links anywhere, maybe we can also add a rep parameter, but not hive's rep cos flawed but some other kind of rep, cc @steevc
Have to find some compromise. I consider microblogging to be largely about sharing links to cool stuff. It's not actually stopping me doing that for now. I could go for Premium, but I don't generally need it.
Just yesterday I was having an argument, or conversation, about the subject. I've seen people not adding links like they used to. When I asked about this, I got that is less looking and Google SEO don't like links etc.
I don't like that direction. I mean why make people's lives more diffiucult by not adding important links? Now they just have to go through the trouble of finding the info by themselves...
That’s kind of the point
There was a time when links were allowed in top threads. The result was INLEO becoming a discord post promotion channel
Now, you have to create a top thread for context and then reply to it with the link. Much better this way

yeah would be good to find a solution but understandably why it has to be this way for now and should be good enough for good link sharers
Yeah exactly, a halfway point.

I don't get that notification. It pops up when I am putting the link in the reply.
Exactly. Why separate the link? That's as bad as Twtr hiding them. Not that I use that shitshow now.

Agreed! Links make microblogging more useful.
I always add the link crazy not to give as much info as you can
