RE: Saturday Savers Club | Week 28 | Saturday 13 July 2024 | Living the best life? Elections and Houses

I just couldn't stay up all of election night, but the signs were good when I turned in. I hope we have a government who can get on with things rather than fighting amongst themselves and trying to be the nastiest. Farage can F*** right off as he just wants to destroy things. We need to be very wary of his kind. Good to see the Greens do well.

It was good to see $HIVE up this morning, but we have to keep building on it to add value.

Sort:

Farage is a grifter and, at the same time, many people voted for him and Reform UK came second in a large number of constituencies. I haven't investigated but I suspect many of them are in economically depressed areas with poor infrastructure where there is little hope of changing things. Sadly, communities are being fed anti-immigration rhetoric, rather than understanding that their circumstances come about through the transfer of wealth to a small number of individuals and families and multi-nationals. His use is as a pressure point to ensure that we address the underlying problems of economic decline - he would have no interest base then.

It's standard populist strategy to blame 'others' even if they are not the main problem. I have hopes that this government will do less of that.
