The other day I posted about some coins I inherited including this FABULOUS Oregon quarter pictured above :)
One of the things in the collection was this book of the complete 100 coin set of the state series US quarters.
At first I was only mildly interested in this set but the more I looked at it and read about the quarters the more interested I have become.
It started with a comment by the coinmaster, @silverd510.
So the hunt was ON
. usacoinbook.com only listed one error so I had to search further and I found this site https://coins.thefuntimesguide.com/state-quarters/ which had this list.
#awesome
So I opened the book and got to searching...
Yep, looks like there are 7 missing but I think I can fill those in with the help of my coin bucket ;)
There are many different type of coin errors, if you are interested check out the definitions here https://www.thesprucecrafts.com/mint-error-coin-768452
I got out my loupe and the quarters and started searching. It was a bit more time consuming then I thought and it seemed that two hours slipped away in about 15 minutes.
I did not find any of the errors from the list above but I did find this interesting video about "rotated die reverses" on these state quarters. It is most common on the Denver Mint strikes from 1999-2004 but they can be found in other mint/year coins as well.
I did not find any of these either but you can bet I will be checking all my state quarters for this error from now on.
As for this set I have to say I really love it and can't wait to finish it up.

There are more then they have listed. When i get time I’ll try to find the website for you.
Yeah, I saw that. Checked a bunch of sites and it seemed each one listed a different fucking error!!
The one where they used the test planchet for the Sacajawea on a quarter is awesome.

There is comprehensive list, i have it somewhere. It gets updated every time the ANA acknowledges it.
One of the most extensive collections of designs from the US Mint. And WOW... the error coins must be so very special to collect! GOOD LUCK on that endeavor. I still have to complete mine, and it has been four years!!!
Thanks for sharing this beautiful collection. Please do show it to us by years, when you have the time.
Have a terrific day, my friend, and STACK ON 🥰🌺🤙

It is cool to see the US Mint stretch out a bit with these designs. Glad you enjoyed it and I'll keep you updated if something exciting happens (fingers crossed).
Take care Saver and thanks for the tip ;)

I have a ton of loose state coins and a full board of all the states. I will have to try to do some research to see if I can find some errors.
Good luck man. I found out it's waaaaaaay more time consuming than I anticipated. 😂😂

Maybe Silvertop better start looking to see if we still have it!!😇
"Son I have no Idea what you are talking about....quarters????" LOL!!😀@summertooth the Mrs got this board for our son to get him interested in coin collecting. I don't know if "WE " have the collection, or if we gave it back to him when he moved out and got Married.
He definitely spent those on top ramen 😎👌😂
Well, as you already know, we had this for our son, but now don't know who has it, lol! I guess we will have to go a searchin'! Take care @summertooth!
His local 7-11 probably has most of them. I hear they have 2 hot dogs for only 4 state quarters. ;)
Well......I suspect you might be wrong about him. Unlike his brother, he still has the silver we've gifted him with. The other son.....well that's another story!
In my family I might have been "The other son..."
LOL, @summertooth! Did your parents throw you out twice? Our son just needed to conform to a few house rules....nothing that was way out there, but he just would not. I suspect if he ever has a child, he will soon discover the lay of the land. Take care and have a good night!
Oof. No, I was not that "other" of an other son. I hope you guys have a good relationship now. :)
Missed you at the chat yesterday btw. Have a great week!
Thanks @summertooth! You have a great week as well!
Gonna do some Coin roll Hunting blogs soon?
It seems the natural route to go as a lot of YouTube collectors hunt live stream too.
And they find the odd silver coin too.
Keep on Stacking @summertooth
As much as I enjoy treasure I could not roll hint like that. Even with this project I found myself losing interest towards the end. 😂
