I want to Fly Away

in LeoFinance3 years ago

Finally. Back in Finland. Had a bit of a sleep. Drinking some water to replace the alcohol particles. Well okay - I didn't drink that much in comparison to many, but I am definitely feeling my body say,

"Hey, time to cleanse."

I came in late last night so pretty much ate a bit and headed to bed, leaving all of my "admin" work for now. Seems the markets have take a bit of a hammering over the last days I was away, also, the Polycub airdrop has apparently stopped for me, or the UI is not working - that is not really great, is it? Investing in for an airdrop that is inaccessible isn't the best look in the world. Well, I guess it is what it is... though looking at the price of CUB, that isn't worth selling anyway.

Several thousand written off there perhaps.

This is crypto and in five days away, a lot can happen, making it quite volatile to "be away" for any extended period of time - and five days isn't very extended, is it? Funny really - it is like once in, there is no "half way" out, as to really take any advantage, activity of some kind is required. Sure, some things tick over regardless, but it is going to usually not be even close to optimized and will likely lead to massive loss in potential over time.

We are moving into an interesting period for crypto and while the markets are dipping, I still get the sense of the calm before the storm, where there is going to be a lot of volatility in the coming months. Though, I am not very good at predicting the markets, otherwise I wouldn't have to keep speculating on what they were going to do, nor have to work or do anything at all, if I chose not to.

Again, I find this funny that a few different decisions in my past made at the right time, and the difference in out financial outcome would mean going from flying for a work trip, to flying whenever and to wherever I wanted with my family. Of course, a few different decisions and I could also be absolutely destitute and have nothing to my name at all, unable to feed my family.

Sliding doors - with limitless decisions and potential outcomes, it is easy to focus on only a few of them, without considering all the others that could have drawn very different results. It is the "If only I had bought Bitcoin at 10 dollars, I would have..." when the reality is that the majority of people who did buy at that very low rate, sold not much higher. Some of them never even went back into crypto at all, but those who did likely are doing okay, because they kept buying low and selling a bit higher. Though, if they had just piled in and held all the way, they would have likely done pretty well - to the tune of tens of millions worth.

Wouldn't be too bad, would it?

On the trip, there was no crypto talk at all, but there was plenty of talk around investing strategy and the like with some people. One of the issues that the "young" have today however (the people on this trip weren't that young) is that they do not look long enough on their investments and they are constantly blinded by instant gratification opportunities. It has affected everything they do, whether it be the way they spend their money, their time or what they consider valuable enough to do or consume - if there isn't a near immediate dopamine hit, it isn't worth considering.

When it comes to my own daughter, I am still unsure how to build her personal processes in a way that moves her investment focus further into the future for the return, whilst keeping her ability to enjoy the moment in the present. While a lot of people seem to say "live in the moment" those same people also tend to be those who are struggling the most in life and actually not enjoying the moments they live all that much. Their words are empty, and it feels more like they are spoken to drag others into the quagmire of their own life outcomes - misery loves a symphony.

To each their own of course, but when this becomes the norm, where the average person is filled with suffering of many kinds and believe it is the way it has to be, it becomes culturally accepted and encourages others to do the same. Back in the past, people used to look to those who got better outcomes for inspiration, now they are seen as the enemy and their outcomes are attacks on those "below" - people who have transformed their bodies for example and dropped large amounts of weight, feeling healthier and proud of their accomplishment - having to apologize to all those who have chosen not to do the same. It is a societal sickness, isn't?

Lead by example.

And that is the problem I guess, because in a world of followers who can choose their leaders, it is far easier to be led by the low-hanging fruit, the instant gratifiers. the passive consumer mentalities and the processes that hold us back from realizing our potential, rather than those that empower us to be our best.

Your best and my best are different - that doesn't mean that we can't each be our best.

Our "best" is circumstantial and based on many conditions, but best under situation is still possible. I believe that my best on a deserted island is going to be very different to my best living in a large city, but best it will be. In the society we have built, I think that our best is not a solo endeavor and if we were all truly interested in exploring our own best, it would require empowering others to be their best too - the more they improve, the greater availability and potential we have also. That is not the world we have created though - as rather than explore how far we can move together, we are simultaneously trying to pull others backward, putting hurdles in their way to hold them back, slow them down, hinder their progress - thinking that if we can stop them, we will have more opportunity for ourselves.

Is that the case?

I don't think so. But at the same time, there is very little point helping those who are unwilling to help themselves. This leads to a lot of conflicts too.

It would be easier just to fly away into isolation.
But that is not much of a life.

while on a flight, always go for a Tomato Juice. it tastes incredible when in air - don't know actually why, but it is really wonderful! ❤️

Better than red wine? :D

From what I heard on the cryptomanaic's podcast, you should just refresh and then leave the screen open. Not sure if that is the real solution because there is a UI bug.

it seemed to correct itself - but it wasn't because of a refresh. It is a pity there are so many UI issues.

Welcome home my friend.

Hey something you said caught my eye. I do agree that many of the youngsters lack foresight and only lookout for instant gratification. Now I have tried so hard to make it a point that I do not fall into such trap. So 2 things pop to my mind. In light of crypto whereby we cannot really look at the fundamentals unlike stocks, how then should we determine when to buy/sell the crypto?

And the next is, I was reading your past post and you are literally a fountain of knowledge. I realised that there is so much for me to even start learning before I can comprehend the articles that you had written. Nevertheless, I really want to improve myself. I would really want to improve myself in the sense of getting more curation rewards for my post, being more financially knowledgeable (where do I start?), or any further advise that you have for me. Thanks so much @tarazkp and apologies for the abrupt request!

how then should we determine when to buy/sell the crypto?

Well, in my opinion it is about investing into what doesn't need to be sold yet - meaning, what has a future. Most cryptos do not - they are just pure speculation with nothing behind them.

Reading is good - participation is better. Take part in all kinds of conversations, write about what you learn and your changing thoughts on these things and try lots of stuff :)

I know right... There is so so much to learn! I have been reading a lot recently, and I find your articles to be a great read! Do pardon me if I am active in your space, I just think you are a wonderful source of knowledge! Really a blessing for the community!

Welcome back!

...we are simultaneously trying to pull others backward, putting hurdles in their way to hold them back, slow them down, hinder their progress - thinking that if we can stop them, we will have more opportunity for ourselves.

I think that most of them don't believe that they would have more opportunity for themselves if they stopped others. However, they believe that they will not be able achieve the success others have reached. Therefore, the more holding them back the more happy they are.

Jealousy is a powerful motivator.

How nice to return home again, when I come back from travel I always drink orange juice mixed with grated carrots. It is delicious. It has a strange effect that makes me happy😊

that sounds okay! I might add some gin into it though ;D

It's true, people can't be developed in a certain field without benefiting from others experiences, we must make others at their best in order to learn from them and bring out the best inside us because a person is valuable in himself.

Help others, help yourself.

How great that you will come home, you can travel anywhere in the world but nothing better than the warmth of home and the conversations that help our growth. Greetings 🤗

My bed at home might not be the best bed, but it is the most comfortable.

Wow it's really nice you got home safely which is a good news to hear. Crypto talks are always very much excited to delibrate on because it's what we experience daily now especially when investing in some that requires to progress soon like polyCUB

It is good to be home - having in-depth conversation about pretty much anything is entertaining :)

the way you diffuse real life happenings with crypto gists is divine, highly commendable I must say. Hope it feels nice to be back in Finland? Home sweet home feeling yh??

Glad that you returned safely and now it's back the the grind of the crypto millstone. If the wheel is not turned it will grind to a halt :)

Over here we are battling with entitlement, as most want but they don't want to do and if someone do then they want instant gratification.
Just the way that they play this game of life.
I bet the family is happy to have you back.

Welcome home, and congrats on posting every single day you were away.

No words and pics, words and few pics, more words and very few pics, words, more words, and many more words
I am bracing for wordy articles as you are back at your base :P
