Psycho and Alien.
I don't read movie reviews myself - as not only do I not want spoilers, I want to experience the movie with as little outside influence as possible. Not always easy these days as every movie comes with an inordinate amount of shill advertising that gets spread even further by people. Luckily, I pick and choose what i do on the internet - I am a bad consumer. - as I consume so little :)
Psycho and Alien. Two classics.
I get that, although I never really mind too much about so called spoilers. For me the plot is just one of many ingredients that I can enjoy.
By the way, my movie reviews were usually personal stories and I avoided talking about the plot at all. Aside from spoiling for those who haven't seen it, you can just watch the movie for that.
I remember writing about 'Don't Look Now', on here, years ago and sharing the story of how that movie found me. Even after having seen it 5 to 10 times, the title ( and film itself ) still intrigue(s) me.
P.S. I consume loads and seeing how active you are on here, I expected the same to be the case for you.

For me, what I like in movies of all kinds is where there are fundamental truths of life, found out of context with the framing. Most action films these days do not have this - but Shakespeare does.
I think the reason I can write so much, is because i consume so little :)
Nicely put. I had to read this a couple of times ( or should say, when rested ) to get what you are saying.
This is usually the case for me but not always. Sometimes I really need some 80s entertainment ( like, for instance, a John Carpenter movie or a nostalgic film like Gremlins ) or, perhaps, a 1990s action movie.
In all honesty, I watched so many heavy arthouse movies, back in the days when I studied film, that I sometimes need the polar opposite.
There's still good entertainment and mediocre or terrible, empty attemtps at entertainment. I naturally prefer the former.
