I think it's both. There are a lot of things going on and Elon is in for a rough ride. However, it doesn't look like Twitter performance has dropped much from the activity I hear about. So I think firing all those people didn't affect the bottom line of their company.

The firings will add up later, if they truly weren't needed. I am guessing that the average salary at Twitter is pretty decent.
