Mindset is vital to success.
This is something that comes as now surprise to most reading this. We know our outlook upon things can often make all the difference in the world. In professional sports, while talent, drive, and a host of other variables enter the picture, often the biggest difference between these world class athletes is simply the mindset.
Source
Probably the best example of this was Tiger Woods when he was dominating the golf world. Was he talented? Most certainly. Did he work extremely hard? Without a doubt. However, he might not have been the tops in each category.
What set Tiger apart, in my opinion, was the fact that he was mentally superior to everyone else. He simply entered every tournament with the "knowledge" that he was going to win. To him, it was expected. This is a remarkable outlook considering we are dealing with the best golfers in the world. Yet Tiger simply had the mindset that they were all playing for second place.
The most remarkable part of this is that many in the field believed this also.
Was his talent that much better than everyone else? At that level, the difference between the top and middle of the road is not really that much. However, when it came to the mental state, Tiger was far superior.
This is brought up because so many approach Hive with a mindset that is not like Tiger's. Instead, they take the approach like those he whipped upon for so many years. People destroy their chances before they even get started.
One who comes to Hive, and the associated tribes, is not going to be an overnight success story. It is really that simple. In the past we had a few meatheads who promoted Hive with the idea of "post here and make $15,000 in 3 posts". That was a miserable failure because people did not get those results. Essentially, they were being lied to.
Instead, the reality is that success on Hive is a grind. It is not easy. Of course, this mirrors many aspects of life. The reason most people are not successful is they simply are unwilling to put in the work.
No matter what the endeavor, it takes effort. To not be fat requires a lot of work. So does being the top sales person in your organization. Years are spent becoming a top-notch surgeon. Actors tend to become overnight successes after spending years in acting classes and doing Sumer stock.
Hive is a compounding machine. Each activity we do which gets compensated can build upon itself. Actually, even that which is not rewarded can have an impact upon where we are going. However, the key with compounding is that time is the biggest factor. The more time, the greater the compounding effect.
Thus, anyone looking for the quick hit will not find it here. Sure, one could do well with an introductory post. That is a great way to get started if for no other reason than it provides some Hive Power which to operate. However, after that post, the real world begins.
Source
Why do people think that this is any different than elsewhere? Go to Twitter, open up an account with zero following and see how long it takes to get 1,000 followers. Do the same thing on YouTube. Open up an account there and monitor how many months (years) it takes you to meet the minimum requirements to get compensated.
From what it appears looking in, unless one has a big following to begin with, it takes a long time.
Hive is no different. Many people feel that larger accounts ignore the newer ones. They tend to take it personally when they do not get noticed. The reality is that it is nothing personal, for the most part. Larger accounts are not ignoring you; it is likely they do not neve know you exist. It is really that simply.
The again, think about it logically. Do you think Elon Musk or even Raoul Pal knows my Twitter account? Not a chance in the world. They have no idea I exist nor do they care. Granted, their upvotes on Twitter carry no monetary value but the point is still the same.
Certainly, Hive is a lot smaller than Twitter yet we still have a similar process. It is social media and that means spending the time getting recognized. This often means getting one new follower at a time.
Dedication and commitment are two characteristics necessary for success. However, long-tern thinking in crucial. Hive is not a place of creating overnight success stories.
It does, however, as time passes, generate more and more successes. This is being compounded by the fact there are now communities which do make it easier to stand out.
Nobody is saying it will be an easy process. As the old saying goes, if it was easy, everyone would be doing it. The opportunity is here for all but one must be willing to put in the work.
Absent that, sadly, no success will be found.
There are a lot of paths to select from on Hive. It matters none which direction one goes in, the model does not change. If one is into gaming and Splinterlands holds appeal, that is something that is going to require time, effort, and dedication to excel it. One will not come in and be the top earner after a couple games. There are people on there who spend a few years building their position. It takes time.
Source
The question is not what you will get today or tomorrow. Instead, where will you be in 5 years? If someone has this mindset, I have yet to see one who will not excel on Hive.
Long-term thinking with consistent action is all that it takes. Each day, many of us show up here. We write daily posts, make videos, and put up hundreds of comments a week. Engagement is the key.
Over time, things grow. As the platform expands, more opportunities are presented to each of us. Here is where we see another form of compounding. The activity we are already doing is better rewarded from before. Perhaps it is a few more followers or another token that is paying out.
Either way, progress happens at its own pace. Often times, if feels like we are walking through quicksand. However, if you consider now long it takes people to get a University degree, something that often qualifies them to tend bar, it is not so long. Put in the same time and effort on Hive as most put towards getting a degree and I believe the odds are that one will have life changing money.
Of course, degrees are not acquired in a few weeks nor is Hive success. It takes the vision of looking 4-5 years down the road and keeping that in one's mind.
Utilizing this approach will net much greater results than simply joining and believing one is going to be an overnight success.

I have seen my account grow throughout my time on HIVE so far. When I didn't put in the work, I didn't grow very much. In fact, I found it extremely tough when I first started. After I started engaging and looking up various information, I feel like I am growing at a good pace. Even if I miss this bull run to stack more crypto, I think HIVE is fundamentally strong with lots of development. Therefore I am in this for the long-term to build a store of wealth and income for the future.

Each day more tokens go into your wallet.
That is the key.

THAT is a profound perspective. And people will say, "but a degree is guaranteed whereas Hive success is not guaranteed," but having that degree does not guarantee you a good-paying job, either - as you said, it "often qualifies them to tend bar." And to get that degree, you are often going deep into debt to boot!
Actually I will say that if someone puts in 4-5 years on Hive, being active and engaging on a daily basis, then success is guaranteed. There is no way to operate like that and not get upvotes over time.
We both know, being on here a while, those that remained in spite of all the noise, have had accounts grow (or were able to take money out for bills). Either way, anyone who is active has succeeded.

That is true, for me, anyway! 😄
Hive in all sense and purposes is small compared to the entire cryptocurrency landscape. But that also means we are all ground floor still for the possibility of what could become. A single App or new platform that sparks huge demand could very well fuel Hive into all new highs making $0.60 seem like a drop in the bucket.
Just 2 months ago I believe we sat at around $0.15 per hive! CubDeFi launched and brought in some new demand and we seem to be sitting on top of that.
It looks like the other projects are going to take a while so long term hold and thinking on that is going to be key. Project blank still has HUGE possibilities in terms of attracting massive amounts of new people as the world starts moving to decentralized social media. Plus earning on your social media posts!
Even if prices dip again which they very well might instead of panic selling think about stacking instead this time. Over the course of history of cryptocurrency in general this has 90% proven to be the smart move.

I listened to one of @theycallmedan's videos and he talked about the goal of Hive as a top 5 blockchain.
Doing simply math means that, if it comes true, we are likely to see the idea of 60 cents a drop in the bucket.
I agree it will take just one app breaking through and we could see the user base rocket upward.

Your mindset is about what people are thinking right now, achieving success is not as easy as turning your hand, it takes a struggle. Likewise on Hive, who when he first started a program, Hive started promoting it to the public, which means we know Hive has a struggle there.
Like the big accounts here that they think choose love, even though it's not true, they haven't found what they want, for example about posts that are weighty or interesting. Maybe for the post writer already thinks it's very good, in fact it's not. They must be able to correct what keeps their posts from getting big positive upvotes from big accounts (Whales) here. Like I'm doing now, I try to write as interesting as possible, but didn't get an Upvote from them at all, should I give up? no, I have to be like other people too, this includes an attempt to achieve success.
That's in my opinion, and your mindset is very good for other people who read it.
Mentality is what differentiates us from those who are still here and from those who have already left and who will soon be here again when they see the good prices for now that are brewing in this world of blockchain although hive is still on pause.
Poor Tiger I think that in his time no one was going to give a five for him especially because of the difficulties that we know he faces, but wow today he is a good element and an example to follow because of his strength and inspiration.
jaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
Of course, if hive is for the long term, not the short term, and those who come like this leave quickly, that is why sometimes they tell me that I am crazy for being here standing every day trying to be active, (By the way I am very sad for having gotten rid of my doge too soon bye 25k) but hey that's history.
As Taraz says, if at a certain time things should be seen not in 5 years if not rather in the long way, that is why there are some tokens that I will leave you sleeping the sleep of the just, unfortunately I did not do it with doge :( sorry for the calling and regretting.
but hey, if we still have time to follow him, it is a long way but it looks not linear but exponential and that is the difference, some steps are backwards but we are doing well, we are doing well, thanks for inspiring us.

Before now, I do wonder what's going on. It's as if the whales have a secret meeting that they won't pay attention to newbies. By attention, you know I mean upvote or comment. And how much I crave for the least, the comment- Telling me what I did wrong in my post, what I should add and what is not necessary. Ultimately making me a good content creator.
However, going through this article and recent ones by some other guys I follow, I realise that it's all about patience and perseverance. Like you said, trying to get noticed. This can not be done unless you keep showing up.
Thanks a lot, I hope others read this article and get the full message you're trying to pass across.
A lot of whales arent even on here to be honest, at least the Hive ones. Many use autovoters hence why they arent passing upvotes around to newer people.
My suggestion is to focus upon the most applicable tribe for your content and try to get the recognition of the large token holders there. You will probably have more success that way.

I can definitely attest to the fact that the time you put in is important. I have really seen my account grow over the years and the time investment has been much greater than nearly any financial investment I could have put into my account.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
That is the way it is done.
You have a story to tell.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Thank you.
I completely agree with you especcially on this point.
I am the moderator of a small Italian community here on Hive and in my continuous activity of promoting Hive I always try to get this message across to new users and show my initial posts with 0.00 Hive payouts.
If you expect something difficult everything becomes easier because you prepare yourself to give your best!
Yes, only a long-term vision can be successful!
Thank you for this post which is motivating and especially useful for those who are just starting out on Hive or have just started!

Our growth is equally a grind. It is tough to get people to understand this.
All we can do is keep at it.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Everyone here knows what it takes to succeed. Most aren't willing to pay the price. They look at the big accounts and they are filled with resentment. They deem themselves worthy of reward whilst anywhere else they would not be recognized.
If you are not willing to play the social game then go home. If you don't want to win like the rest of us, go home. It is that simple. But if you want to win then you do the needful (engage, create, add value). It all balls down to this simple question:
How much do you want it?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I am not sure everyone fits into this category. There are many here who are completely lost and were, perhaps, misled.
However I do agree with you it all comes down to doing the work, or not doing it. What are you willing to dO?
The majority are not going to put in the effort.

there is some truth in this. however, they've come to see the truth about this sphere. whatever they make of it is of their choice. those who want to contribute will get the support they need

Greetings to achieve success we must have perseverance and work continuously, we will have obstacles that are going to arise and we face to achieve success in our blockchain in Hive.

Short term people makes themselves rich.
Long term people make each other rich

Speaking of long term plans is there any official long term strategy for hive from the developers ? I know there are plans drown out for this year but don't know anything that is longer than that
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I have not seen any long term strategies although I believe the fact there is more being moved off chain makes it a bit less vital. The end game appears to be have a lot more via layer 2. Governance is going to be the primary use case on chain.
There is already some discussion about the next Hard Fork (the one after the one in a couple months). So that is pushing us towards the end of the year.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
I couldn't agree more with what you've said. When starting social media in general, it takes a long time to gain followers. It is the same to #hive as well. People tend to vote those who have existed long in the platform rather than the newer ones (with few exception and outliers).
That is why I have a long-term perspective in #hive. I started with few support from the community. It takes awhile of consistent posting and engagement when I reached an audience that support my content. I did it even the support is low. And, I think it is the important lesson for newbies. Be persistent and consistent.

.maybe smart contracts on hivemind. Then integrate buttons into posts and have a way to interact with lets say a liquidity pool within a post. You'd have token 1 contract address and token 2 contract address the user would need to insert and a swap button that executes a custom json call. All within a post. Does this sound good?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It is an interesting idea. I presume, not being a developer, it is possible. I am not sure what purpose it would serve other than making instant swap of tokens available.
However you bring up a much larger point, the options will grow a great deal with more development. Smart contracts are a must.

I totally agree that long-term thinking is the key to progress. But people are who they are, and most people are interested in getting more in less time. When they are no longer happy here, they will leave this community and go elsewhere. So we need to think about that too.
Something new has to be offered to such a majority all the time. What has been happening here in the last six months is the right way to go.
... just my five cents ... 😎
People are generally lazy and lazy and Hive are not two words that go together. Thankfully Hive is difficult to earn and so it should to at least hold some value. 5 years is not a long time considering the first year you are still learning.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It took me way over a year to score my first $10 post. Networking has played and immense role. 99% of my community from three years ago is no longer on Hive. 99% of my approach towards Hive is no longer the same either.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Mindset isn't something you get to learn from the books, it's something that has to be built/earned.
That's why the majority stays poor.
I have had reslectable amount of downtrends in life, but Hive isn't one.
As long as we don't fall bellow $0.55 hahah
Jk.

As I have written in one of my earlier posts, there are three kinds of crypto people - those motivated by necessity, those motivated by greed and those motivated by conviction. The first and the third group is most likely to accept grind and long-term perspective as the essence of success in cryptosphere.
