What will it take to become a SuperApp? Is that even possible?
Elon Musk mentioned the idea of "the everything app". Since that time, it is something that really captured my imagination. For this reason, we have to seriously look at this idea on Hive.
With these ecosystem, there are few project teams as diligent in the desire to expand as Leofinance. To me, this epitomizes the concept of a complex, organic ecosystem. At times, it resembles total chaos. Nothing is structured with rollouts happening haphazardly.
For those who prefer order, this is nervewracking. However, it is also a basic characteristic of decentralization. When an ecosystem has permissionless engagement, things can go in many different directions. This is even true when the core team is centralized, yet influences can come from the outside.
Therefore, back to the main topic, can Leofinance become a SuperApp?
SuperApp: Excelling In Many Different Areas
I take this notion from the idea of a nation-state as a superpower. Today, the US is the sole one in the world. Some might push back on that, citing Russia's nukes or China's economy. The problem with this is that to be a superpower, one must dominate in many different areas.
Let us look at some of these:
- military especially Navy
- economy - robuts and resilient
- upper level education
- advanced banking and financial system
- enough food to feed the country
- energy to power the economy
- technology
- defense
When you go through the list, cite how many countries are stong in all those areas.
The same is true for an application. If we view the digital world as network-states, then applications have to dominate in more than just one area.
Here is where we can start to develop the criteria to judge this.
By the way, it is something that is lost on Web 2.0. Outside of Musk with Twitter, there is no mention of this concept elsewhere. The majority still look at social media as just that.
So what are some of the areas that we need to excel to be a SuperApp?
Some ideas are:
- finance - DeFi
- microblogging
- video
- long form content
- tokenization/incentivation
- ease of us
- reward system of some form
- network effects
Obviously, these are just a few areas that are important. It is likely that many more will develop over time.
One key pieces to this is the first one: finance. This is something that is going to have to be developed greatly. If not, most applications will falter since I foresee DeFi being integrated into everything.
Where Will Leofinance end up?
This is hard to say. The positive in all of this is that the project team is willing to take the feedback. At this time, the "everything app" is already on the radar. That means ideas are being tossed around in this area.
To believe the future is going to be one where our devices are filled with an app for each thing we want to do is misreading what is going to take place. It is likely we will have 2 or 3 main applications that we utilize for the most part.
For this reason, Hive's future lies in a couple of applications taking this concept and really developing it. No longer should the focus be niche. Certainly, since we are dealing with communities, it can have that theme to it. However, it has to hold general appeal. Actually, a everything app is going to have to service all while offering "subcategories" whereby communities can assemble.
This was what made Facebook so successful to start. It allowed, albeit loosely, for community connections. The key from here is to take this to another level while also incorporating the monetazation aspect. This is where Web 3.0 truly will excel.
Can Leofinance ultimately fill this need?

I just bought more LEO today because I believe it is. Even after my thread was flagged to zero.
Why was your thread flagged to 0?
It's always up to the community to upvote/downvote as they see fit, but I am curious

Apparently @soonlambo and his friends/alts had a big leofiance problem. Here's the link explaining it..
https://peakd.com/hive-167922/@soonlambo/do-you-see-what-i-see-a-big-leofinance-problem
To be fair I told him if he had a problem with my content that he was free to downvote it.. that ain't gonna stop me from buying LEO
Definitely
I believe that it will soon dominate May apps that’s why I can’t stop been active either through engaging on posts or posting as well
It has enormous potential. The team seems to be open to expansion. This is something that we really need to focus upon.

When that new UI launching I'm for sure going to give it my best to help it become one.

It will be interesting to see what the new UI has in it. We keep getting some glimpses.

I think Leo finance is good idea for accessing multiple things at a place
I think Leofinance is well on its way to becoming a super app because of the multiple options here to be active. We just need some banking connections and a way to buy bitcoin.

A deep BTC pool is definitely something that we need.
Being able to easily convert to BTC will give $HIVE and $HBD direct access to the outside world.

A lot of it is the front end user experience and user acquisition for that network effect.
If leofinance becomes the go to app for most new users, and users can chat privately (would this be possible with layer2?) and send each other HBD HIVE or even other crypto, we have a winner.
There is a lot potential.

I think LeoFinance can be a part of that super app and I think Hive might work out better to be that super app. I am not sure how video hosting and other things will go on LeoFinance but I think it can do everything else.

I was just reading a post by Edicted about how LEO could use a big win and I think this could be it. It's a slow grind but I believe things are slowly coming together

The network effect drives us to centralized places, even when that center is actually a decentralized everything app.
Web2.0 is going full force into artificial intelligence though and I don’t see web3.0 being able to do that as well, now that AI still needs super computers to create its models.
OpenAI is a great company, sharing the capabilities of AI with the world. But it is a company.
AI will be one of the most distributive forces in the next 5-10 years I believe. If web3.0 can incorporate it, then it will completely disrupt all facets of life.

Leofinance is a wonderful project with a very great future... I know there are great things on the way so far as leofinance is concerned
I tried the app on iOS mobile, but it did not work very well for me. In the next few days I will uninstall it and reinstall it again. However, LeoFinance has huge potential in my opinion as well. One must also take into account that right now Leo Finance as a blockchain-based social media dedicated to finance has no competitors. So it is a great time to make developments and take a huge lead.
