It looks like Elon Musk is going to have people pay $8 per month to verify one's account on Twitter. This has caused a great uproar. Some are in favor of it, many are not.
What do you think? Are you willing to give Elon $8 a month to be verified on Twitter?
Personally, I could care less if anyone thinks I am a bot or not. On that platform, I don't involve myself too much other than to promote Hive a bit.
As for the uproad Elon is causing, it is temporary. Ultimately, I believe he will create a very powerful ecosystem there. In other articles, it was explained how he is going to generate the everything application. Since he is blending social media along with finance, we can appreciate the potential.
Nevertheless, is it worth shelling out $8 a month to participate at that level?
Why spend time there when we can earn more than $8 a month on Leofinance using LeoThreads?
Taking Advantage of the Upheaval
There is going to be some upheaval. This is the opening we were looking for. Now it is up to us to pass through the door as it opens.
While Musk might do some good things for Twitter, disruption is always something that is opportune. With social media, we know people become fixated upon what they do. Those who spend years on Facebook are right there. The same is true for the younger crowd (as compared to Facebook) on Instagram. We know the Tweetsters, if not kicked off, tend to remain there.
We are seeing a mass upheaval within the sector. Elon is steamrolling his way through Twitter. Mark Zuckerberg is buring through billions trying to control the metaverse. All this is the window that Hive was waiting for.
Unfortunately, at this point, we still are dealing with the development of things which are needed. One of those is microblogging and Leofinance took up the challenge. We now can "tweet on the blockchain" although the features are a bit scarce at the moment.
Nevertheless, hopefully other front end pick up on what is taking place and join the party. Microblogging across the entire spectrum could really prove beneficial to Hive. It would also help the expsoure it receives as people would start talking more about it.
Of course, it would help to have its own front end. We know the world of the Internet is driven by mobile. This is going to be a key piece for anything that is heavily utilized in the future.
Building Separate Pieces That Are Coming Together
Hive often looks like it is a mess. This is the nature of decentralized systems where there is no centralized plan. Instead of everyone working in the same direction, we are more like a bunch of roaches scattering when the light is turned on. We run in every direction.
That, however, is also our greatest strength.
While progress is hard to see, it is there. What is even more powerful is that we know it is happening in many different areas. Over time, we are able to string things together, providing leverage for everything else.
How important is microblogging going to be with all of this?
In my mind, it looks like a key piece. Musk is not a stupid person. He knows exactly what he is doing in regards to Twitter. Hive has similar capabilities since we already have our payment system in place. There is no need to develop a digital wallet; it is in existence as these words are written.
That gives up a big leg up. Ultimately it comes down to which is easier to build: social media or finance?
Twitter has the former but none of the latter. Hive is mostly the opposite.
Leofinance is working hard at reversing that. We see how the development team is regularly adding to the platform. It will be interesting to see what the new UI looks like when it is released into beta.
It is time to really start putting LeoThreads through the motions. A lot more testing is required. Can it handle 25,000 "threads" per day? We honestly have no idea.
The goal now should be to add as much as we can.
In the comment section, write out some ideas of things you believe Threads can be used for.
It is vital to get a huge list going.

Will the Threads add search function? Or prioritize or sort by people you follow?
I dont know the plans for filtering. That might be a question to ask on Threads.

I wont n pay $8 a month to any social platform. I just removed the app from my phone and I'm close to done with the whole thing. I'll focus my energy on Hive stuff.
Amen to that!
LFG!
I'm not sure exactly how Leothreads works, but it sounds like a way to make simple updates on the blockchain. Sometimes I want to let people know I am am alive or tell the world when something funny comes to mind. They are all fleeting moments. Maybe that's what a thread is for.
I wouldn't pay 8 dollars a month for something that I already can do. Twitter must be offering something very special to expect eight dollars a month for verification. It seems like he is making it much more than a social network, but a business platform for exchanging money, commodities, goods and services cutting out the middle man. In that case maybe 8 dollars a month is worth it. Anyway I wonder if twitter will come up with some whitepaper explaining what they are really doing.
I think there are a lot of things Threads can be used for such as asking questions, sharing good posts, posting requests for services and/or products (for example, if I need a dev for a project). The possibilities are endless!

I agree. We can be filling it on a daily basis with many forms of information.
It is sad to see the numbers and how low the use rate.

Wow, I look forward to using more of Leo threads, if it can get on a Level to attract Tweesters, I think it's gonna be very successful. Like you said, this seems like a point of advantage when people are being thrown about!.
Going to take a lot more. Still not feature rich but it is only a few months. They need to scale the development. Perhaps that will happen with the new UI upgrade.

I could care less about verification and I would not even bother with paying him for it. From what I see, I think the people need to weight the benefits of having it versus not and if it's only verification, I don't think it's worth it. I know he said he wants more features for it but I still think it would not appeal to me.

Not sure what the benefits are since that hasnt exactly been spelled out. I am sure it will be like a paywall.

I'd be stupid to pay $8 per month to be verified on Twitter, you not going to get even $0.50 per month out of me for a platform that is of no use to me.
LeoThreads, I think it has the what it takes to pull a good amount microbloggers, like mentioned we just need to keep testing out its capabilities on how much threads it can handle.

nah
He must be joking I guess. If that eventually come out to be truth. I remember "UNINSTALL" still works on my Android phone.
I like this idea, it helps Elon to burn Twitter to the ground.

It is very interesting to see the richest man on the planet be frugal with money. People will look at a person like him and think he has it all but he wants $8 a month.
I think the only way we will see real development on Hive is if we have more people invest in these smaller dapps.
I think a lot of folks will pay. Twitter is full of bots and spammers around, to be honest.
I keep buying cheap Leo every with the 8$ or cub that is on the rise instead of me verifying my Twitter account

I know I wont be paying $8 a month for it. Those that do I feel are going to become a laughing stock of the platform and turned into a major meme. It really eliminates the whole point of getting the verified badge.
What he should have did was created another symbol which stoop for a paid account and not the verified blue checkbox.
What will be interesting to watch next is to see how much revenue and benefits or hurt this brings to the platform and if other web2 applications will quickly follow suit.

It’s amusing to think of paying for verification on a place like that but he’s taking the gamble on everyone knowing Twitter so they want the social clout of being a check mark. I’m glad I deleted my Twitter two years ago now I think it was.
I think a good opportunity for threads will be having it not just be about crypto but I don’t know if that’s already there. Being Leo, I figured it was focused on the crypto side but for overall content would be nice as that’s more attractive to the users leaving the twat machine.

I personally love the idea of a microblogging financial platform. There are times you just have to say something that's short but articulate and original. That's mostly not possible in our present system. It will be seen as spam. I'm hopeful that the Leothread would solve that.
Also we mustn't be oblivious of spam. With micro-blogging, spamming may become rampant. How's the team planning to tackle that?
I think much need to be done in pushing decentralized platforms to the mainstream. A lot of promotion and sensitization is needed.

Every time you see a roach you know there is one more or a lot more. It means a lot and hope folks understand the analogy in a positive basis.
We will get better and the result is coming

I contribute to HIVE almost every paycheck. I get more in return every month. It gets more lopsided every month.

Lot of people will definitely opted for leothreads and right now, have got to see that this is definitely what most individuals are going for too.
It will definitely be leothreads over Twitter always

If it's free than it's for me, I chose Leo Threads :))) Joke aside I had a friend visiting and I always paid for his beers when we were going out and from there the phrase "if it's free than it's for me" ;))

WEB 3 at it isn't even a close call. However I am enjoying the trolling Elon Musk is handing out. I seen a tweet of his that featured an $8 coffee with the caption 30 minutes. Beside it his new plan to charge $8 with the caption 30 days. A man filled with smiles was in the coffee image. A man filled with tears was in the twitter $8 image.

I believe crab people are real :))) Remember solar city ? I'm just gonna leave it at that and point to this comment in a few years
Obviously, a microblog is extremely attractive, and even more so if it is monetized, instead of paying Musk, they pay us, that cannot be argued.
However, as you mentioned, it is necessary to move to a phone application, there is nothing more agile at the moment than developing any short or quick topic on a mobile device, including taking advantage of voice recording, photographs, and videos.
I also think that the LeoFinance microblog should come out of Leofinance because it is limiting. Everyone thinks that it is only for topics related to finance and that is only for a small group, informed and educated in economic and financial topics.
Too limited to become something massive.

He chose the price on a whim in the middle of a spat with a user. What business leadership is that?

I see your point about blogging on a blockchain, and I agree that time, and money are better spent on Hive.
That being said… Twitter is an important place to advertise your platform or project in cryptocurrency. And many high status people and projects use it.
So I agree with you that people will pay the 8 dollars, and Elon will make a little money, while he incorporates his ideas from PayPal days, now that he can make it happen.
Cheers 🍻

Yeah and if the price of some of these coins and tokens goes up 5x, the return is that much greater.
