METS THRIVING WITH RUNNERS IN SCORING POSITION
Much has been made about the prolific nature of the Mets’ offense, and for good reason. The unit is currently batting .249/.320/.417 on the year while tying for the fourth-most home runs (114) and fifth-highest wRC+ (113) in addition to having the eighth-highest OPS (.737).
Those numbers, as has been well-documented, have skyrocketed since the beginning of June. Over that period of time, Mets hitters are responsible for a .271/.339/.480 slash line as the offense has scored a league-leading 206 runs en route to a 23-12 record.
Are the Mets considered a great team? Is it among the best in the United States?

No. Not even close. 6 weeks ago they were bad. They went on a run and now are a decent team but not one of the top ones.
I understand, so it must be an "average" team.

Keep look at them. The R stands for runs, when someone touches home plate and scores. The one with the most in a 9 inning game wins.
If tied after 9 they play extra innings, like over time in futebol.
