I always was of the belief they all add up. In fact, when it comes to everything on Hive, it all adds up. That is why the ones that are most active tend to have their accounts grow a great deal over time.
It is not usually an overnight process but they do get there. We see the posts detailing the progress on a regular basis. It is fun to watch.
