Elton John reveals that a 'severe eye infection' has left him with 'limited vision in one eye'
Healing is "an extremely slow process," the artist said.
Elton John is recovering from a scary health diagnosis.
"Over the summer," the music icon explained in the Instagram post below, "I've been dealing with a severe eye infection that has unfortunately left me with only limited vision in one eye. I am healing, but it's an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye."
Thats no good at all, but I wish his eyes comes back to normal..
Seems permanent.
WHats!!!
He went on to express his gratitude for his medical team and his family. After spending the summer at home, John said he feels "positive" about his healing so far.
It was just more than a year ago that the 77-year-old British singer-songwriter fell at his home in the south of France, requiring him to spend a night at a local hospital. In 2021, he postponed dates on his Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour in order to have immediate surgery after another fall.
That wasn't necessary this time around, as the "Your Song" artist retired from touring last year, going out after one of his signature hit-filled concerts in Stockholm in July 2023.
The EGOT winner said then that while his touring days were ending, that didn't mean that he was leaving the stage completely.
"I will never be touring again, but I may do something in the future — a one-off thing," John told the crowd. "But that's miles away. I want to appreciate my family, my sons, my husband, everything."
The artist behind "Levon," "Bennie and the Jets," "Tiny Dancer," and many more hits, is married to longtime partner and husband David Furnish. They share two sons: 13-year-old Zachary and Elijah, 11.
