I just wrote an article on gold.
A couple fun articles.
Gold in the seawater. yes and lots of it.
And some deep sea mining.

That's a very interesting field.
When I was in college, a friend was working on a project to try and extract a few selected elements from seawater. You can actually find most natural elements in seawater - gold included -, but it's really hard to get them because of the low concentrations.
I think I may give him a call lol

Yeah that is what I garner from the articles I read about it. It is like parts per trillion so it is not cost effective to do anything. However, as technology progresses and energy is reworked, perhaps we will see it in a decade or two.

Well you were talking about getting the gold in the sea water and the mining sure seems interesting. I wonder if it will be cost-efficient given the cost of the equipment, energy and experts to run it.

From what I can gather, the mining of the ocean floor is much closer and more efficient than the pulling minerals for the seawater. That seems to be much further out.

Definitely... mining from the ocean floor is hard because of the very high pressure and distance but it's still not as hard as extracting stuff from water
