China's manufacturing numbers came in. Not very good.
It is a concern when the world's leading exporter is now making as many products.
Demand issue?

I think it was to be expected because CAT already lowered down their expectations in their earnings report and one of the causes was that China is no longer purchasing as many building materials.

That makes sense since they are zapping their real estate development.
How many ghost cities do you really need?

Well you can't have enough if you want to poise to the entire world...

could be a combo of supply chain back ups (products still stuck in cargo containers and warehouses) + people not being able to afford discretionary items and them making due with what they have and even making cutbacks on basic items. W2's are all sent out and tax season is right around the corner!

Oh that's bad news to the economy in brazil... we're very dependant on them chinese

It is bad news for the entire world. China is the worlds production plant.
If they are having setbacks, what does this say about the rest of the world.

or maybe people are realizing they don't need all that trash stuff that comes out of China lol Legit the stuff exported is 90% of it is trinkets and not really necessities. I have a feeling people got a big reality check over the last two years and started to smarten up with their paychecks. Who knows though. At least that's the general feeling I'm getting.

The feeling is mutual and I think you're right.
People have learned the hard way through the pandemic lockdown.
There's no essence in getting what you don't need anymore, immediate needs are the only priority these days.

Actually China manufacturers a lot of what the US needs. That why the unwinding of the relationship is so difficult.
You would realize how most of what is needed is actually from China. A lot of drugs, for example, are made there. If you look at most of your office equipment, about a $100 billion a year industry in the US, it mostly comes from there.

but is there really a need for offices anymore. Dugs on the other hand that's a strange one but yeah I'm not sure exactly what comes out of there. I just know a lot of crap stuff comes from there as well lol mugs, merch, clothing stuff like that
