Elon Musk expects 500K users on Starlink within a year

Elon can be optimistic but if that is the case, at the present pricing of near $100, that is $50M per month. Not a had starting point.

I think they already got 500k pre orders for starlink setup. But yeah, it would take a while to bring up the services and to onboard users.

That would make sense since that would be where he got the number from. That is some quick revenue if he gets it. I believe the service is about $90 a month, which means he can be pulling in $45 million a month within a year. In a couple years, they could easily 10x that to 5 million subscribers.

In a couple years, they could easily 10x that to 5 million subscribers.

Which is still a drop in the bucket on a planet with over 7.5 billion people.

That's right! Since it is going to benefit the population in developing countries, there is a good chance people will use their services.

Especially since developing countries tend to have rural areas. That could actually speed up adoption since it makes it easier for the service to work.

It would be a great windfall to many of those areas. They could get started in the online world and hopefully pull in monies into those areas.

Crypto is a great place to start by signing onto Hive.

Platforms like Hive have huge scope in countries like India. We already have the cheapest Data Plans in the world. Can't imagine what will happen when remote areas get access to Starlink's high speed internet connection.

Indians dominate the social media world in terms of numbers. Local crypto community has grown quite well in the past 2-3 years. It's the best time for Indians to start their crypto journey with Hive.

That would be nice but I would have to wait to see how the quality is from the ground first is. As far as I know, a random bird might be able to mess up your connection right?

a random bird might be able to mess up your connection right?

For real!
I don't know if I have heard that before, hope to see how things go in the coming years.

It is the first in a wave of new innovations that we can see. That will be the difference between what we see over the next 20 years and what happened since the turn of the century.

I am not sure a random bird but I would imagine it is like satellite television. It wont be very good in a rainstorm.

Let's see what has to offer. Seeing how expensive is internet in my country wouldn't be an issue.

Yeah the cable and phone companies basically established a duolopy which makes price set by them. It is ridiculous what people are having to pay.

That's a good one from elon. Though can't say much for the numbers but I think we might have a total decentralized internet through starlink. Hopefully it expands to more countries with time.

I dont think this is remotely decentralized. This is being run by a company, one that will likely end up as a public corporation. Hence, it will be similar to the cable companies today at some point.

hehe it looks like he already pushed the Starship launch forward... he said July a few days ago and now it's "in the next few months".

But anyway, I think it's going to take him some time to get back the 30 billion he is going to put in Starlink but I agree that it's a good start
