Google believes the bridge to span the digital divide is not that great and can be pulled off.

After the pandemic hit our country , the online classes mania started .
There were many surveys done on digital access in various states and the results were terrible .
The digital divide is so huge in India that in some states some kids haven't yet used the Internet .

He's got a valid point, I'll give him that...
It's not only a matter of how much money is being invested in education but also how it is being invested.

Without a doubt. We spend a lot on education for really stupid shit. The degrees some of these kids walk out of school with is criminal. The administrators of the schools ought to be jailed. They have worthless degrees and wonder why they cant get a job to pay for the $50K debt they amassed.
He is right, need 6 or 9 month courses in specific fields that will get them in the door of jobs.

I think people should spend more in technical trades than spending so much money on getting a degree from a 4 yr college. I mam sorry to say that I am one that has a worthless degree. I would not advise anyone to go to college for 4 yrs.

This is where I like the online courses platforms .
I go to udemy and get my certificate within 15-20 days on a specific topic . I learn more than I can in any university to be honest .

Very true, brother
I've done a few short courses that taught me a lot more than years in college

Without a doubt, we do. The courses that open doors to jobs don't even take that long to study sometimes, all they need is mastery.

Yea but I have a feeling most of it is going towards the staff rather than being invested in teaching the students.

Very true . There are many schools in India where there are not enough computers for kids to learn , now where is the money going ? Just rebuliding and buying the desks ?
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Lol, in Nigeria, many don't even have access to power supply, let alone computers. They would steal them in less than 24 hours.

Yea.. and also a lot of that money is probably being stolen by politicians... at least that's what happens around here

Teaching the youngsters to code should be a big part of education now days.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
It should be a life skill.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
This is one thing that our government recognized and they changed the whole school syllabus to incorporate coding in early stages .

Hold the door, I'm coming to India.
(Right after the pandemic, lol)

100% man
I think it's a skill that everybody could use... even if you are not looking to get a job in tech, it's still very important to have some basic programming skills.
Posted Using LeoFinance Beta
Yea it requires people to continuously learn and that isn't something done in the traditional system. Its more of you learn and expect to be worthwhile in a job afterwards.

Our education system in the US is completely broken by the government's wasteful use of funds. There is absolutely ZERO accountability up and down the ladder. The Democrats and their media allies flood the airwaves with negative rhetoric every time the Republicans want to do any sort of overhaul. Then, when they get in power they just throw money at the system and let the media talk about how they're so pro-education. Meanwhile, our children get further and further behind compared to the rest of the world while we spend more money than anyone else on the planet. So, where is it going? How is it being used? Who's benefitting? Guess what. Another answer easily found by.....following the money. The administrators and people two-steps, three-steps, four-steps, and more removed from the actual children are getting paid while the teachers and kids get poorer and poorer results. Go Biden!!!

US is seen as a haven from where I come from. These things happen but at least...
This makes it look like things are working when they may be dying. At least they care enough to save face, and while the educational system might be dying on the inside, the kids are exposed, for the most part, to many opportunities in the process. At least, that's how it seems from this end.

The digital divide is a lot easier to bridge in countries like the US and other developed countries. For developing and underdeveloped countries it may not be as easy. This is still a huge step.
