Speaking of a company left for dead, or so we thought.
It seems Pitney Bowes is emerging as one of the leading ecommerce companies. Here is an article that details a robotic system they designed to handle the sorting of parcels.
Since ecommerce is only going keep expanding, this is a huge opportunity.
Of course, more automation.

Pitney Bowes equipment was still in use in many mailrooms in the corporate world as late as 2019; I'm not sure what happened after that, but I have a feeling they are still there. It's good that Pitney Bowes stuck around to be able to take advantage of current market conditions.

That is true. Yet that was a company that had mailing equipment in many offices, something that died.
It is not surprising that they are moving to robotics. They could be one of the companies that ends up feeding the likes of Amazon.

I didn't know about them but it's a very interesting article.
I have worked on a sorting project once. They did use robots but they were very dumb robots back then. Incredible how things evolved in such a short time

I think this is a point that people do not understand. They do not realize how rapidly this technology is moving. What was completely useless 5 years ago is now an everyday thing.
Dumb is only a temporary condition.

I guess a lot of people are not really paying attention to what is going on or they are just too dumb to figure it out.

Most are not accustomed to the pace of change, especially if they are older.
The younger crowd is a little more in tune.

It really comes down to computing power. Questions and issues that used to take years, or at least months, to solve, can now be figured out in weeks and days. The ability to run simulations and tests using more advanced equipment leads to.....more advanced equipment. Again, it comes down to figuring out the right questions to ask. If you have a little foresight, you can jump the competition in a fairly short period of time. The problem is, you can also get leapfrogged. Gotta stay on the cutting edge. That's the hard part. As quickly as they have "reemerged" they could be gone again.

To add to that, the "hit" can come from anywhere. Now, with companies that can go into any industry since it is all software, someone across the world can come up with an idea and crush an industry.

Even most younger ones are just tagging along the ride I guess. Everything is kinda weird to take in most of the time.

The switch to digital is going so rapidly and I think covid pretty much made people spoiled. They prefer to order things online now.

They were ordering online before. This just upped it. There is no doubt it was the direction things were going. Now it is in overdrive. The next step is to work on the last mile of delivery.
