USWNT was that way in 2019, only that team had just enough focus to get the job done and win the FIFA Women's World Cup. Now it's a team in transition. Let's hope the new team has more likeable players and gets back to "just win, baby."

Not likely. It is like the WNBA. They feel their platform is bigger than it is.

For US women's teams, the soccer team is by far more successful than the basketball team. In terms of leagues, they are marginal (including the subsidies WNBA gets from NBA). As a platform for raising awareness, neither can match UFC/Women.

The whole global women's football landscape has changed.

US players used to be able to play against the best at home but now Europe has got its act together, the best players are all in Europe.

They need to be playing there.

Women's soccer is weird stateside. Men pay attention with the national team, but they don't even know that pro leagues exist. Coaching is better, since they have the Cups to prove it. I'll go with women's hockey instead.
