RE: LeoThread 2023-05-07 19:08

I am glad to see that Khal said they are working on a big update which address long form on here.

We need to enhance both aspects of Leofinance.

Sort:

Let's see how that goes. I don't see long-form content lasting once threads start running smoothly with some proper tokenomics. I might be wrong. This is what I feel.

Why do you think long form wont last? Hell Twitter is even adding it. Substack and Medium are huge. There are already plans to add subscriptions to Leofinance.

If Leo puts the same curation effort into the thread as it does its long-form section, it will be dominant. Long-form content hasn't worked in a long while, the incentive to create it has.

Looking at the numbers of Seeking Alpha, Substack, and Medium, I would say your analysis is off. There are millions who are monetized on those sites. Sure they are web 2.0 but cant deny the success they have.

Those sites are not hive, we can get into the nuances if you want. There is more to posting on those sites than earning. Most writers, i will argue, care more about exposure than earning b'cause the former brings in the money (long-run)

  1. You will agree with me that most of these platforms are pre-web3, to replicate their success or attract their ageing user base is an onerous task. they enjoy the benefits of economies of scale.
  1. what we can do differently is attract the younger population-new entrants into the social media space--most of which are getting into web3 with dapps they are familiar with...most of which are SFC platforms.

1/ Certainly they are pre-web3. That said, when you say older crowd, what do you mean. Short form has some younger users but there are a lot of "older" ones too. The Boomers still with us and GenX (in the US) is a long way from dead.

2/ While short form captures a lot of attention, people like Joe Rogan prove how big the market is. He had a 3 hour podcast that people listen to. So the idea that long forn content is dead, I disagree.

  1. audio and visual content is the easiest to consume as they involve passive consumption. when it comes to written content it is a totally different game as the consumer needs to be actively involved in the process. nuisance.

I expect that #threads activities will normalize once the campaign is over. I myself fails to share on Twitter the long-form content that I used to share prior to the campaign.

3/ Do people not take it serious on Hive? Certainly we do see the scalping mindset, with many not serious out about. But again, that is a different type of creator.

  1. and my response: we are too small an ecosystem to have varying disparity in output. We must, in fact, get the best out of everyone to have a positive network effect.

Much needed for growth

Yes. Finally got home out of the foot fetish club.

I feel these details and some polishing are what's needed to make Leofinance perfectly usable.

There are a lot of bugs, especially with mobile on long form so it is vital to get then worked out. But that is the nature of development.

Yeah, it would be so nice to achieve a balance on both sides, all the best to the #leofinance community 🥂.

Appeal to both side. Some people like both.

Yeah, I love both 😌

That is good. I do to. Some prefer short form, others long.

Yeah, I've come across a lot of people that refuse to try out threads because it's based on short form contents, so this would be a great boost for the newly launched leofinance UI to be accepted even more.

#feedback #web3

People have some interesting views. Odd that many dont like short form when that is what most people post as long form on Hive.

I guess they are already used to long contents but I'm sure with time they will adjust, they have to, hehe.

Thst Will be awesome, I can't wait to see that, at least it will bring an end to all this complains in the community as per long form

People will find something else to complain about. Have no fear.

I am waiting for the final update. It's still uneasy on mobile

Not a final. There will be many. But they have to get mobile fixed. Too many rely upon it.

I haven't had any issues with long form content but then again I don't write too much long form but I'm looking forward to what will come out

Desktop is a lot better than mobile right now. If you are on desktop, less issues.

Yes Yes.

I only use mobile to thread

Also, the speed of the UI. I responded to his poll yesterday saying speed is the best feature. spoke too soon.

It is a powerful aspect to the site now. The old one was too damn slow.

Even this one is laggy at times. Specially on mobile.

I must admit i have been struggling with this new layout and have had to use other front ends to comment on Leo posts whish is kind of losing the point. I have neve r liked Twitter and this format has lost me for now unfortunately.

It's extremely necessary now as many people are not able to post with new UI using mobile phone.
