Did people who were starting Web 2.0 have to go and promote to the people using Web 1.0?

Was it a situation where social media had to be "sold" to the Web 1.0 users?

No it did not. So why do people think Web 3.0 will succeed by "mining" Web 2.0?

Sort:

We need to pry people from Web3 for their own good. I feel like we are doing so much more than just teaching new technology. We are freeing them from being brainwashed! They need to be recruited because they are mindlessly numb!

I think it is a waste of time. We have failed and yet people keep doing the same thing. The path is to focus our attention fully on Web3, get our numbers up. That will speak for itself.

This is something that is proven. The network effect has an exponential impact...it works in reverse also. Take the activity away from Web 2.0.

Competition is far higher than it was for web2.0 it was a natural progression. But also if we build cool shit then users are simply going to share it. Focus on building cool shit people want to use instead of wasting all of this time trying to farm web2.0 such a time waste and resource waste.

Price action and building awesome stuff people want to use is where the growth will be.

I agree with all this other than price action. That doesnt foster growth but pumps. Sure some join for a bit but they are only after the next leg higher to make money. The first sign of a bear, they run.

Cool shit building...that should be our motto.

I have given up on selling hive to people. I feel like I the best thing I can do is invite some IRL friends and some hivesters to dinner and let them get to know each other and how we met. @macchiata was talking about visiting 😛

The best thing we can do is become a raging success ourselves. I just had a neighbor as me about #crypto, his daughter looked at it some time ago and he, in his infinite wisdom, said dont bother (she was looking at $BTC).

He asked me again about it. He notices my car doesnt move very often and that I dont go to a job.

Be the success story.

we really need to get the answer of this question.

I assume complexity in web3 which is kind of barrier for many non techies like keys, seeds and wallets. some are still in era where they think internet is a fad.

it really does have to be an easier process but we will get there!

You got the point. There is no need raiding Web 2, the features, useability, the overall benefits would drive people to Web 3.

When people see creators and community being rewarded for breaking away they will flood in willingly!

Exactly

What was web 1.0? emails?

It's not so much that Web3 needs to be promoted to Web2 people as it is to promote the concepts of decentralization. Intellectually they know, yet at the gut level they still hold on to centralized options from Big Tech. It will take time.
