You don't mention it, but I also think an important part of commenting is upvoting them, as good ones most definitely add value to posts.
How do you get more of whatever behavior you like? Reward it! Want to see it go away? Ignore it ...

I have been upvoting comments for months now. Almost everyone in any of my articles gets an upvote. It is a decent amount of LEO (the payout for the commenter is about .5 LEO) along with enough HP to be above the dust level.
So there is incentive there. How many take advantage of it?

Sadly that is true. Some are doing things on Twitter and TikTok which is also helpful. However, there are some who do nothing more than take. We need to start calling those people out.
