PostFinance remained a core part of Swiss Post’s operations for decades, gradually expanding its offerings. A major shift occurred in 2008 when PostFinance AG was formally incorporated as a private limited company under Swiss Post’s ownership, marking the beginning of its transformation into a fully-fledged financial institution. This transition was completed in June 2013, when PostFinance obtained a banking license from the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). This license allowed it to operate as a private-law entity, though still wholly owned by Swiss Post, and subjected it to stricter regulatory oversight. The same year, PostFinance moved into its new headquarters at Mingerstrasse 20 in Bern.
