How It Works
Wearable neurotech devices typically use one of several stimulation techniques:
- Transcranial Direct Current Stimulation (tDCS): Applies low current stimulation to the user's head via conductive pads.
- Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS): Uses magnetic fields to stimulate specific areas of the brain.
- Cranial Electrotherapy Stimulation (CES): Applies a low-level electrical current to the head.
- Transcranial Ultrasound Stimulation (TUS): Uses ultrasound waves to influence brain activity (still in research stages).
The basic theory behind these techniques is that stimulating the brain's activity in a targeted way can influence how a person feels by changing the electrical signals that brain cells use to communicate with each other.
