Williams is set to appear in court to answer claims that suggest Meta employees undermined U.S. national security in their bid to help China with AI. According to her, Meta started briefing the Chinese Communist Party as early as 2015. These briefings allegedly focused on emerging technologies like Artificial Intelligence.
“The explicit goal being to help China outcompete American companies,” Wynn-Williams states in her draft testimony. She suggested there’s a ‘straight-line’ connecting those briefings to China’s attempts to build AI models for military use based on Meta’s technology.
Meta, on the other hand, has denied these allegations. Spokesperson Andy Stone suggested her accusations are “divorced from reality and riddled with false claims.”
