I am a custodian at an Elementary school in California. Out of 100 staff, I am 1 of 5 men. I make sure any conversation I have is within camera range. I make sure I keep my rolling trash can between me and any female that stops me to ask a question. I do not talk about anything beyond work, and even then, I keep those conversations short and constantly tell those teachers to send me an e-mail about any requests so that I have a paper trail. I already know that I am a 5th class citizen, and despite being in a Union, I know that any form of complaint they won't protect me from.
