In 2023, global lithium consumption reached 180,000 metric tons, up from 142,000 metric tons in 2022, according to the United States Geological Survey. But the U.S. produces less than 1% of the world's supply.

While most of the world's lithium still comes from countries like Australia, Chile and China, Arkansas could change that.
