A civil lawsuit was filed against one of the people arrested for vandalism against a Tesla. This was by the vehicle owner.

I didn’t quite get what you said the woman in the RAV4 did to the car behind her.
If the lawsuit file is over a million dollars how much is the Tesla itself? I think these people are being overly dramatic and people always tends to abuse such situations claiming damages for mental sanity and all of that is uncalled for . If the Tesla was badly damaged, maybe fixing it or a replacement is ok, why ask for such exorbitant price all in the name of paying for damages. Anyway I will keep following up on this news. Hope to finally see how it all ends
One can sue for any amounts, it doesnt mean that will be delivered. However, it will get one's attention. And we do see some large damages by juries at times.
So we have to see how it works out. Even if the $1M is not given, does the case settle for $50K? $100K? That is an expensive day.
The woman got out of her vehicle, when to the Tesla behind it, and keyed the car (I believe it was keying).

Meanwhile why did the woman key the car? could be out of jealousy, its a form of vandalism and it’s considered a criminal offense in some jurisdictions as that can visibly cause damage to the car paint
