The Real Benefit To The Upcoming Twitter Sign Up On Leofinance

Many have talked about onboarding and the importance of reaching outside the Hive ecosystem. This is not a novel topic since it was long discussed even before the split from Steem.

However, throughout the years, very little was done that moved things forward. Before the hard fork, most of it went through Steemit Inc.

Since that time, we had a more efficient sign up process. Instead of weeks of waiting to get an account, people, on Hive get it rather quickly.

That said, looking at the numbers, we see that not too many are itching to get Hive accounts. Why is that?

image.png

Before getting to that question, there was a video posted by @khaleelkazi that showed how easy the new Twitter sign up will be.

As we can see in this video, it takes a few seconds and only the clicking of a couple buttons. Do that and, presto, one is logged into Leofinance using their Twitter account.

The real beauty of this system is not that the sign up is so easy, although that is a trendous adavantage.

Instead, the true value of the sign up process is the lack of explanation required.

Anyone who tried to get someone interested in Hive knows how hard it is to phrase things properly. There are so many nuances even for basic interaction that it makes it almost impossible to talk to someone without their eyes glazing over.

With this, it is a very simple selling proposition: would you like to post and comment on this site which lets you get rewarded for doing that? Yes, then sign up using your Twitter account.

Everyone knows how to post, comment, and upvote. This is typical Web 2.0 activity.

Certainly, there will be questions about how to earn, how it is paid, and a lot more. That can be explained as time passes. For the most part, that is secondary. The primary interest will be, hopefully, in getting involved.

This really is exemplified when the "Leo Twitter" feature is added. There we have another simple selling proposition: would you like to ensure that your tweets are not lost if Twitter decides to zap your account? Yes, then sign up using your Twitter account and start posting in the feature.

Many in the crypto world are already aware of this possibility. All the social media sites go through phases where they target Web 3.0 and cryptocurrency discussion. Our very own, @theycallmedan, is a prime example. His account was shut down, not surprisingly.

We are quickly seeing real world (digitally speaking) solutions to legitimate problems that exist. The immutability of what is posted on Leofinance makes it a great counter weight to what the traditional social media outfits.

Twitter is the first one being targeted. It is likely this will not be the last.

The next 6 months are going to be a lot of fun.

Login options that are not "blockchain" logins with Keys is the true way to onboard more users.

Super excited for the LEO on-boarding efforts. It will help all of us.

Maybe LEO should do an incubator for smaller dev teams. The DAO seems to have failed and they seem to have the talent/funds.

I agree with you. The key situation can be figured out later. Most users will not be up on the terminology enough to deal with it.

Let them get involved and start being active. After that, they will learn by doing.

Yeah it would be good if they could do that. They initially started as offering help to other projects. I am not sure if they got too bogged down to focus upon that.

We will see how the next 6 months go.

For those of us who wish to bring decentralised social networks to all the people who have and do not necessarily know about cryptology and its entire process, this is truly a giant step.

Looks like leo.voter got some big delegations as their HP has increased to almost 1.4M now. That should help them get more account creation tokens to help with onboarding. Personally, I think they should just keep people on lite accounts and only trigger the option for a full account after they have $10 in rewards or something. Lite accounts have the huge advantage of being easy to understand for normies without scaring them off having to understand RCs, vote weights, etc.

If Signing Up on HIVE via Twitter account is very easy and taken to a few time, It can increase Hive newcomers, I believe.
I will re-share about this to my friends.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The explanation can be done once people got involved and actually want to understand what's going on beneath the surface.

It's all about that first contact with the platform. If people have to jump through loops to get their account set up, chances are they won't. This is huge for both Hive and Leo!

I didn't know this feature was coming but it's a true game-changer. The value proposition of this alone is through the roof. So many non crypto people are going to bypass all of the barriers of entry to crypto and slide right into Leo.

I face this problem reality. I explain to my
friends about Hive. They are very interesting
in it. But creating account is difficult. So
This change is very needed for us.

i dont know if you know about my little brand and my alliance with rising star (hive game), and yep basically now im trying to build a tribe for music lovers (first a community called MusicForLife) and i face the big problem of taking users that are out of hive and OUT of cryptos and freaking hard to let them understand everything haha. Hope leo can desing a good structure to introduce them slowly, im recording a course of how "start with cryptos with a blog (hive)" so people can relate cryptos to something more familiar (blog), and many videos are necessary (hiveonboard introduce, keychain installation, how works each token, how works the payments, tribes, delegations, etc)

It is not easy. There is a lot of crypto, Hive and Leo. This makes for a tough time trying to attract users.

We still do not excel at the ease of use arena.

The sign up via Twitter is a brilliant action to be respected. Crypto enthusiast favor Twitter much more than the other social media platforms. It may be the most useful bridge between Blockchain based social media platforms and common ones in addition to being excessively user-friendly.

Instead, the true value of the sign up process is the lack of explanation required.

That's so true, most people feel sick when they see countless keys and explanations regarding security issues. One really has to be in love with crypto to sit and learn. I can judge by my friends, they all semi-understand the benefits of crypto but are not willing to invest that extra work to grasp it completely. This way they don't even have to, just come, have fun, maybe earn something and gg.

Thanks for the new perspeictive. I wasn't thinking much about this possibility. @dbuzz folks could be using the same sales pitch with their Buzz to Twitter feature. The idea of Twitter backup is real smart.

1 thing I've come to realize is that onboarding works better when we don't explain how stuff work. Get them to sign up 1st and let them figure it out later. That should be the mantra. They'll have a sunk cost and some interactions. Even if 10% converts into active Hive users, that'll be like at least few million new users.

Get them to sign up 1st and let them figure it out later. That should be the mantra.

Absolutely. This is not something people will fully understand in a short period of time. Too many layers to it.

Time to alter the strategy. Let us leverage what Hive does offer, immutability. There are a lot of people on twitter who discuss crypto (and other things in the case of DBuzz) that are at risk of censorship.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I remember spending over hour or probably even 2+ hours reading the FAQ on Steemit. I was happy to do it cause I was into crypto anyways. I think we've marketed ourselves to much of the audience. Even @skycorridors (Naomi Brockwell) is on Hive.

What we need is the average tech lover (not grandma - not crypto fan) using Hive. I've been a huge believer of power of blockchain games to achieve this.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

You put the spotlight on the right things and getting every tweet censorship free is a use case that Hive blockchain provides and Leo Finance facilitates. This is a great approach to things and a path to onboard masses and make a shift of their thinking. Tremendous!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

It will require framing it properly. However, if done right, it can be leveraged for something much greater.

I'm feeling so great about my [We Need Centralized HIVE Accounts!](We Need Centralized HIVE Accounts!) from 15 days ago. It came out as more like a stream of consciousness post. @khaleelkazi has been a great visionary for LEO and I'm very happy that he and rest of the developers went aggressively into this "signups without signups" path.

I think we might be finally ready for a Brave Ads campaign for real. Let's hope we would be able to get enough support from DHF. HIVE has been sleeping too much on real marketing that goes beyond Tweeting about stuff to the same few thousand followers of crypto Twitter.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I know not lot of people are willing to get hive account it but almost everyone has Twitter account and they can login and signup easily I'm looking forward to it update

This could onboard a lot of users, Leofinance is changing Hive's enviroment

Maybe LEO should do an incubator for smaller dev teams. The DAO seems to have failed and they seem to have the talent/funds.

Sad but true @simplegame, Hive is quite centralized yet and the whales aren't promoting other but themselves while Leofinance is making a lot of incredible improvements.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I could not have stated it any better my friend.

That is why it is vital that people do not forget about the governance on Hive and overlook the importance of HP.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The new easy sign up of twitter definitely will ease the complicated form people passed through when signing up

It is very important to improve the "sing in" process to blockcahin platforms or dApps to be possible to people that does not have experience or trust to save so many keys with differents means.

The only problem that we can have using centralized social media is the fact if the person will continue to have a easy login for the account if the big tech suspend the account as we are seeing.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

Ease of use is vital.

That is still missing in the crypto world.

This is still rather complicated, something that people will not spend the time trying to understand.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

The Twitter signup will really help. To me the trick is 1) sign them up, 2) let them learn HIVE, 3) help them get their keys when they realize they need them.

When I signed up it was 1) Sign up, 2) Install this new extension I never heard of, 3) Use odd and confusing keys that I had never heard of, 4) Ok, now use your password. 4b) No, not that password.

Anyway, the conduit to Twitter is a great addition.

LeoFinance is the Crypto Twitter 2.0

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

I think that even though it will be much easier to get an account at Leo Finance many will give up along the way because they are not used to this type of social network.

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

2021 will be great with the development... Great for LEO so great for HIVE!!!

Posted Using LeoFinance Beta

We just signed up using twitter took literally a few seconds. Awesome !
@gmio_projects (globalmerchant.io) is working with us on getting the rest of the network of resellers, dealers, distributors, importers, exporters, trading companies to work together using Leo, wLEO for payments. This makes it real simple we're using a basic 27 cents (USD Fiat reference point) in pricing for all of the newbies to Leofinance.

Obviously it will be adjusted as we are assuming that with an increase of use by many buyers and sellers (merchants of wholesale goods) any one of this niche group can also use uniswap so just about anything can flow back and forth.

As merchants we need instant access to funds that are being used 24/7.
In the past there was confusion from many of us that had planned on using HIVE, but didn't see any merchants on the HIVE eco system until we heard about Leofinance. Big thank you to whoever made this slick instant sign up process !

Aloha from the Two Palms Team.
