Hi @traciyork! Thanks for another PUD post - I'm getting ready to participate once again!
I have a question about Hive Basic Income. I only just properly figured out what this is and it seems like they are an awesome thing because they basically give a lifetime benefit in terms of post upvotes.
But I've only ever heard of them before as rewards on these PUM challenges - so I'm just wondering why they aren't used more commonly?

There was a small amount of pushback against our service a couple of years ago (which has since been resolved, and the instigators have left Hive completely). We opted for a lower profile at that time, and a lot of our growth momentum was lost.
At this point, we don't have the same level of awareness that we used to have. There are still a few contests that use Hive SBI for prizes, though. That's one reason to be active in a community - where you get tips about things like HBI/SBI or @dustsweeper or all the other little things that make your Hive life easier.
I make a give away of one share of HBI among the commentators of my posts - but I don't announce it ;)
I do that too, but I don't post very often, so even more reason not to announce it!

I did know about @dustsweeper at least, though my vote is enough not to worry about dust. I wonder what other little things I will discover!

Now I understand what it does I think it's awesome - I post quite a bit and plan to do so for a long time so lifetime upvotes sound like a no brainer!
I am also planning to run some contests myself soon and am thinking of giving HIVE SBI as prizes.

I can understand why from what they were saying at the top of this thread and with a little adoption, it could take off again - do you reckon?
yeah - I certainly think it's a nice thing for people on Hive to know about it - I'll be looking out for contests where I can get some for sure and will be offering it in some of my own contests/giveaways.
