Since I joined the Hive platform, inleo has been my home where I share my blog posts and make threads. Right from day one, I have been grinding hard on engagement, threading, and blogging. My goal was to see that I get used to the system and build connections as fast as possible. And, I am glad that all has been going as planned for me on inleo.
Having been active on the platform daily, I I will share my experiences using Inleo's UI during the month. I will discuss what worked well and any issues faced, then provide recommendations for improvement. Let's begin!
Overall Performance
Inleo's design provided an extremely fluid experience overall while I had the site up for the month of February for both long and short form posting. Because I had a number of blog posts throughout the month, the site was always responsive and fast either when I was looking at it with a desktop browser or a mobile browser.
Page navigation such as the thread's feeds, long form post editor, short's section and viewing other people's posts was seamless. I never experienced any lag, slow loading, or any other technical glitches switching between sections. Even posting or updating already published posts was not a problem. The UI was refined and could handle high traffic or publishing volumes without affecting its speed.
The UI itself for Inleo's publishing interface was extremely clean, intuitive, and logical. All of the main features, buttons, and navigation points were displayed in a simple and clear manner. Being only 3 months and 2 weeks on the platform, I have not had trouble learning to use the UI for posting, reading posts, or editing.
I also enjoyed the way the UI was responsive and optimized for different screen sizes, both on a desktop or mobile. No matter what device was being used, the content and elements were automatically scaled to fit on the screen so that the consistency of the experience was maintained across devices. The responsiveness was so great that I could easily write and read content on Inleo on any devices, switching back and forth between them as needed throughout the month.
Trouble Faced
Mobile Image Posting
While responsive design ensured effortless browsing on whatever device, there was one grave issue I encountered. I could not upload photos or post pics straight on my blog posts or threads at all several times as I was trying to access the Inleo site via my phone. Whenever I tried to choose and upload an image from the image/media uploader when I was in the post editor on my phone, the spin icon in the loader would keep spinning without any success. The photo would not be embedded in my post. That meant extra steps - I would have to upload any photos that I wanted to use first on peakd, then copy and paste the image embed code into my Inleo post on my phone. It was a clunky multi-step process compared to being able to simply upload photos directly through the editor on the computer.
Error Page
The second issue I discovered using Inleo on my smartphone was the repetitive error page appearing on trying to see my notifications or clicking to initiate a thread and comment or reply.
I later discovered that whenever I reload the page it will behave as expected. I didn't have this issue on desktop, however, but with mobile. My workaround has been constant refreshing of the page every time I encounter the error page. It is annoying sometimes, but I have grown used to it so as not to consider it an issue.
In summary, while Inleo offered smooth performance for all my use throughout the Month for blogging and microblogging, some issues were exposed that impacted the mobile experience.
Not being able to upload images or add links in posts directly from a phone slows down and limits the types of rich content that can be created on the go. And yet, the slick and responsive appearance, streamlined navigation, and general snappiness are all unshakeable evidence of Inleo's integrity as an interface.
Closing the loopholes mentioned in this report, such as direct image uploads and limiting the recurring error page pop up, would make Inleo truly great. For the potential it has, I rate the user experience a 4 out of 5 overall. With more improvement, it will be a number-one option for Hive bloggers who seek an optimized interface on all devices.
