Started out as a blockchain called Steem in like 2015 or 2016. Then in 2020, Justin Sun of Tron bought the lead front end called Steemit.com and tried to do a hostile takeover of the chain, so after a long, drawn out battle of witnesses vs Justin Sun with the help of centralized exchanges locking up customer funds to attack the chain, we forked off and created Hive. The original 'ninja mine' of Steem coins that was used to attack the chain was forked into the DHF (Decentralized Hive Fund), which is a DAO fund that pays projects and developers that can get the support. Majority of the community went with the fork, so now here we are, almost 5 years later.
